Wanna do list // Spring 2016.

March 31, 2016

That time already, and since my Winter To Do List wasn't that successful I'm going to look at these as a Wanna Do List instead now! ;) Less pressure, more fun! After all, our days and nights are full of fun things to do so I'm going to make these for some extra fun if we have time.

1// go out for a family date to lunch

2// buy a cute swim suit for Solomon

3// take mom out for a pedicure and lunch (seriously going to happen this time!!!)

4// check out a new restaurant downtown for a date night

5// have a cookout in the backyard

6// bake fresh bread

7// finally have the house "facelift" completed

8// start walking with Solomon consistently since he loves being outside

9// donate winter clothes that I didn't wear

10// set up a park play date with friends and their babies

Easter 2016.

March 28, 2016

Easter weekend was crazy busy but it was wonderful! I loved seeing so many family members and celebrating our Risen Savior. It is the best holiday!! It was also fun to start a new tradition this year at my aunt's house. She hosted an Easter Egg Hunt Brunch on Saturday morning for the whole family. It was great to start the weekend off with some delicious food, hot coffee and sweet babies!

& then my camera died.... :(
after the fun morning with my Mom's family, we went to Travelers Rest to have lunch with my Dad's side. Yummy Spaghetti for lunch was such a good idea. We ate well all weekend!

cute little bunny with his first basket!
He loved pulling everything out and playing with the crinkle paper.

Preparing the lamb every Easter is my favorite project. I called dibs on the holiday when we got married and there was a chance I'd have to give it up this year, but it all worked out and I'm so happy we were able to host the Sunday lunch for our family!

So excited to be the King of the table!

Hope you all had a wonderful Easter weekend!!!
I'm so excited about the leftovers.... YUM!

March 25, 2016

It has been a busy, busy week preparing for Easter and trying to soothe a teething baby as much as possible. Let's just say it, Momma is tired, I'm so looking forward to this weekend though! I can't wait to see family and celebrate our risen Savior. Hope you all have a beautiful weekend and I pray that you find hope and love in the true reason for this Easter weekend!!!

My morning spot with coffee on the floor with this happy boy! I love that our days are still finding new fun routines with each other.

View from under the big backyard tree. I can see a lot more time spent under it with a cute boy!!

six things I love at six months.

March 23, 2016

Last night was rough. Like a crying, teething, kicking me in the side all night, kind of baby rough so I thought today would be the perfect time to share six things that I really love right now. Cause teething is NOT one of them.....

1 // his hands.
They kill me... everything about them. The little dimples above his knuckles. The way he stares at them so hard that he goes cross-eyed. The way they search with excitement when it's time for him to nurse and the cute way he covers his eyes while he is drinking and he's ready to sleep. Yea, everything about his hands make me want to eat him up.

2 // the i miss you smile.
There are times when I'm not around him for a few minutes while I'm cleaning the kitchen or putting away laundry and he is left to play alone. He never has a problem with this if I can sneak out while he isn't paying attention, but when I come back in the room, he gives me the biggest gummy smile and I almost melt every single time.

3 // happy mornings.
Almost every morning, we start the day with lots of kicks, squeals and smiles in the bed. He will nurse a little bit off and on and fall back to sleep with me, but each time he wakes up, he is all excited and happy to start the day. It really is the happiest way to start my morning.

4 // his happy word.
Milk. He loves it, and it makes me so happy to know that he loves nursing as much I love it. The first time I realized he knew what milk meant was a couple months ago when we were watching TV and he was being a little fussy. Peter asked him if he wanted some milk and he smiled so big and then looked at me and smiled. He was standing in my lap facing me and he put his hands on my chest and leaned down to put his face on my chest as well. I almost died. Pure sweetness, and even now I know that when I say the world milk he will smile and let me know if he is hungry.

5 // the monkey hold.
Just recently in the past week or so I've noticed how he feels like a little monkey on my hip when I pick him up. Almost every time I scoop him up, he wraps his legs around my waist and clings on to my arm while biting on my shoulder. It's precious and he feels like a little monkey on my hip.

6 // squealing mess.
The boy can't contain his excitement (or anger sometimes) and has to squeal it out. This little thing he does reminds me of myself so I guess that's why I love it so much. I have been known to squeal a time or two when I get excited... so when I see him do it, I can't help but smile. It usually starts as a growl and then turns in to a high pitch scream. Now, trying to figure out how to keep him from doing this when we are out of the house will be interesting.

sweet as honey.

Our sweet and funny and super loving nephew turns one today! I can't believe he is already a year old and he is growing into such a sweet little guy. His mom always goes above and beyond with parties and I always get excited to see what she has come up with. This adorable Winnie the Pooh party was so perfect for Jonah's first birthday and I loved every detail. It was so great for most of the family to be together and watch all our boys play together. I can't believe we have six all together now and we were only missing one for this special day!

My favorite picture from the party on the right. It looks like this is a posed magazine picture or something... Trust me, we are not a perfectly happy family but we do love each other and I see that in this picture.
I also love that my married family include my own family, it really means so much to me!

Jonah, we love you and I can't wait to see what kind of trouble you and Solomon get into!
You two are so similar in the funniest and cutest ways & I can tell that will create some fun stories!!

weekly three.

March 18, 2016

This week has been so beautiful. The weather, the spring storms, the new normal with a baby that can play by himself so I can get some chores done.... all of it has been wonderfully beautiful! Peter is heading home from a short work trip today and we are going to Georgia tomorrow morning for a sweet boy's first birthday party. Always something going on but we wouldn't know what to do if it was any other way! Hope you have a great weekend!!

Wondering when I will get tired of cooking food for Solomon??
I know we are still in the first week but it is so fun to make the yummy pureed foods and watch him experience new flavors!

This. I want more of this every single day!!!

Fresh local coffee is best, especially when it was roasted less than a week ago!

Sights + Seats // Cafe 64

March 17, 2016

The morning after our day at Biltmore, we were dying for some yummy breakfast. This was after my mom took Solomon for a long morning walk while I got some extra snoozes in the cozy hotel bed!! Delicious breakfast and hot coffee after sleeping in a bit, nothing better. We took a little walk to Cafe 64 and found the perfect spot outside. The weather was perfect and Solomon was sleeping in his stroller so we got to relax and eat some amazing breakfast while enjoying Asheville on the busy Saturday morning sidewalk.

I couldn't resist the blueberry pancakes when I saw them on that sidewalk sign!

My mom got the Skillet & it was so good! She let me steal a bite or two....
Two farm fresh eggs on top of the tastiest, crunchy potatoes mixed with caramelized onions, bacon, roasted red peppers and topped with white cheddar cheese and diced tomatoes. YUM!

& of course we had to get a side of grits to share, they were perfection!

Like I said, I couldn't resist the blueberry pancakes and they did not disappoint.
They were light and fluffy, just like they are supposed to be, and the blueberries and homemade whipped cream was the perfect addition. And the crispy bacon, of course!

If you are in the mood for a yummy breakfast and fresh hot coffee, then try out Cafe 64!
I'm sure you will love it!!!

a day at Biltmore.

March 15, 2016

Over the weekend we drove up the mountains to Asheville for a little trip to the Biltmore House! It has been planned for a while with my friend Whitney and my mom since we thought it would be a fun trip for Whitney's birthday, but she had some things come up so she had to back out. Mom and I decided to keep the hotel booked and go anyways since Peter was out of town.

I was also excited about visiting Biltmore since the Fashionable Romance exhibit was happening. They had gorgeous dresses from so many different movies and also had the house decorated like a beautiful wedding was happening. It was a wonderful day full of pretty things and a happy baby in one of the prettiest places around! Sorry for all the pictures, we had so much fun...

We were a little worried about the weather since it was supposed to rain all weekend but it was so pretty and there was not even one drop of rain! The skies were bright blue and had fluffy clouds all around! If anything, it was warmer than we expected and I wish I had on short sleeves instead of a cardigan.

This picture is clearly from my phone but I couldn't resist sharing it with that sweet smile on his face!

Such a happy boy, he loved spending the weekend with Gigi and getting so much attention from her!

The original duo! ;) So glad that Solomon likes to hang out with us on our trips now!!
