devoted

February 23, 2012

Last night I was catching up on the service I missed at my church {Grace Church} over the weekend since I was out of town and as usual it hit right at home.

Devotion......
1. profound dedication; consecration.
2. an earnest attachment to a cause, person, etc.

What am I devoted to? What are you devoted to?

Acts 2:42 says, "All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord's Supper), and to prayers."

Devotion doesn't explain a type of relationship. It shows the depth of a relationship. I can't help but wonder what depth God sees when he looks at me. Christians should give with Joy and Generosity (Acts 2:46).

Not give with a timid and lazy hand. Only giving what we HAVE to give or what we know we can do without.

So whenever I am standing in judgement one day I want to be able to express my devotion to one thing.
His Kingdom.

That is my prayer, my deep desire. To become more and more devoted to my Fathers Kingdom every day. Stepping up when I need to. Giving tithes on a regular basis. Striving for every move I make to further the Kingdom that I do not deserve but He freely gave.

Yes, my heart is spoken for so it only makes sense that it should be completed and utterly devoted to my Jesus.

Midweek Randoms

February 22, 2012

Just a random post on a random humpday. Today has felt off all day long since I stayed home sick on Monday. I kept thinking it was Tuesday and to make things worse it was a completely SLOW day. I was most definitely busy but the day still dragged. BUT, I’m proud to say I made it though… I survived!

While I sit here completely worn out I thought I’d share a few randoms that made my heart happy today……

  • I went to my second HOT Yoga class tonight. Explains the “worn out” comment above. I have a 2 week pass that was going to expire this weekend so there’s no better time than now to give it a whirl. I absolutely love it!!

  • I had a delightful lunch date with the beautiful, Jocie Ashworth today. So incredibly thankful for her and our friendship!

  • NEEDTOBREATHE is coming to Clemson University on April 29th and I’m beyond pumped!!! So excited to see them live again, it’s been way too long.

  • Thanks to that nasty bug I had over the weekend I’ve lost 3 lbs! Can’t complain too much about that…
  • My mom and I are planning our yearly "Mom/Daughter Trip" to Boston in June!!! I've never been and I am so excited! Shopping, eating, enjoying wine, shopping, sightseeing and some shopping.

So, right now I’m ready to relax… eat a couple Girl Scout cookies {Lemonades... eeek!} while I sip on some hot tea and watch Revenge. Yes, most definitely a perfect evening after some sweaty yoga! ;)

Attitude of Gratitude

February 20, 2012

My beautiful friend over at beauty in humble places, Amber, shared her Attitude of Gratitude from A-Z a few days ago and I thought it was such a great idea!!

So, here I am… stuck at home with this nasty bug floating around so I'm going to be a copy cat. I think having an attitude of gratitude is always a great thing, especially when you feel like poo!

Here we go... some things I am grateful for from A-Z!

Amber… it only makes since to be grateful for this lovely lady! I’m so glad we have become friends. She may not know it but she is continually pushing me closer to God in many ways. Her attitude, her eye to capture His beauty and the way she shares His love with others.

Brooke Fraser… oh dear, where do I start? Her songwriting is out of this world. Her voice is incredible. I could listen to her all day long & sometimes I do!

Church… i’m so thankful to have a church that I am in love with. Every weekend is better than the last. The message is always like a dagger to my heart. The worship is perfection. I really do love my church and that makes me happy!!!

Dreams… sometimes they help you know what you are really thinking and feeling.

Essie… my favorite polishes that always have happy colors!

Faith… it really is the most important thing to me. Without my faith being set firmly in Christ I don’t think I could do anything. Because of my faith I sleep better at night and live better during the day.

Girlfriends… i’d be a little lost without them. So thankful for the friendships I have and that they are all based around God and our faith.

Health… i’m very thankful for a healthy life. A lot of people fight with this on a daily basis.

Instagram… clearly if you read my wittle blog often you know of my deep love for IG already.

Jesus… he’s most definitely my main man. He keeps me clean and I’m so glad that I yearn more for him on a daily basis.

Krispy Kreme… once every 4-6 months it sure is nice to see that “Hot Now” sign. Mmmmm!

Love… all you need is love. It’s true.

Mom… she will always be my first best friend!

New… i embrace change. New things are always welcomed in my life!

Old Navy… high five for cheap trendy clothes!

Pinterest… i mean, come on. What chick isn’t grateful for this awesome creation. Yummy Recipes, DIY projects, Plan your dream wedding. YUP! Exactly. Awesome!

Quiet time… i’ve grown to LOVE this time every day. In my car while I’m driving. At work when I say a quick prayer in stressful times. In my bed before I go to sleep. Anytime that I feel God pulling on my heart and I respond with a few moments of worship for Him. Yes, I am grateful for that.

Ring… the opal ring that I wear on my hand every day from my Grandmother. Very special to me!

Shoes… love them. Enough said.

Trust… without trust you will never create relationships. Any good relationship is going to be based on trust.

Umbrella... my hair becomes frizzy when it gets wet on a rainy day, therefor I am very thankful for umbrellas.

Valet... what woman doesn't love this? Seriously...

Weekends… even if they are only 2 days they are still fabulous!

Xerox... my job would be a lot harder without this delightful machine.

Yoga… in love with it. It’s the best workout I’ve ever had and it seriously works every part of your body! LOVE!

Zero… no clue about this one?

Eleven Things

February 16, 2012

I'm not going to lie. I'm a bit irritated about writing this right now because this is my second time. I did the draft last night and hit the save button... but did it save? nope. I almost said "whatever, I'm not going to do this" BUT I'm really excited about this post so here I am. Typing everything again... because it was fun!

The beautiful Leslie at A Blonde Ambition did this fun blog post and she tagged all her readers to join. So... I am! :)

Here are the rules:
  • you must post the rules
  • post 11 fun facts about yourself
  • answer the 11 questions that the tagger posted for you & then create 11 questions to ask the people you've tagged
  • tag 11 people and link them in your post
  • let them know you have tagged them

11 fun things about Me

1. My first name is Cassandra. I'm not a fan...

2. When I was little I had a speech problem until I took speech therapy at the age of four. Apparently I didn't learn how to use my tongue right? At Christmas one year my mom asked me if I wanted to sit on Santa's lap and I said "He won't understand me". It broke my mom's heart. She always knew what I was saying.

3. After a very long time of practicing yoga I can now do the Chaturanga Dandasana pose. The first time I did it in class I almost squealed with excitement! I'm so proud of myself. It's harder than it looks... trust me!

4. I absolutely love being a red head and I don't think I'll ever go back to brunette.

5. I love music. I can't work, drive, clean or much of anything else without it.

6. The sun hates me... I take it personally. I can't tan, I burn then freckle. Thankfully I love freckles but I'm not a fan of skin cancer so I try and cover up as much as possible and keep the sun bathing limited.

7.  I want to go back to school for cosmetology one day... and whenever the time is right I will.

8. BUT for now I love my job. May will be five years I've had my job and after a few different positions and meeting a ton of people I know for a fact I am in the perfect place right now. I'm very lucky to love going to work every day.

9. I'm a total girl and absolutely LOVE chick flicks. Even if they give us all an unreal expectation for romance. A girl can dream right?

10. I can't keep plants alive. I was given a beautiful cactus plant that you apparently "can't kill" but I did. I give up trying to have a green thumb.

11. My favorite kind of beer is a stout. The darker the better!! This surprises a lot of people. I've also been told that I'm a "beer snob"... I usually respond with a "thank you".

Leslie's 11 Questions

1. If you could raid any celebrity's closet, who would it be and why?
Selena Gomez. Yea, she's young and she's dates a little boy (kidding... I love the Biebs) but her clothes rock! I always love what she wears and she can go from cute and comfortable to sexy and sultry so flawlessly.

2. If you were a shoe, what would you look like?
Depends on the season.... Spring/Summer, a cute chunky wedge. Fall/Winter, a sexy boot that you can wear with jeans OR a dress. I can't pick one!!

3. What is your biggest pet peeve?
When people are late for everything!! It's rude. One of my girlfriends is late ALL the time and she knows it drives me crazy! Love her. Strongly dislike her lateness.

4. Favorite song of all-time?
All-time? That's tough.... Any Celine Dion song would win that. River Deep - Mountain High is probably my favorite though! Lovely memories with Jocie Ashworth singing that song!!

5. Are you a dog person or a cat person? And why? (If you don't like animals, we can't be friends.)
I used to have a cat. Then I got Bella, my Yorkie-Poo. She won... I gave the cat to a loving family so I guess that makes me a dog person.

6. You're queen for a day. How do you spend your royal 24 hours?
This is going to sound like a total "suck up answer" but it's the truth. If I were queen for a day I would fly to Cambodia and spend the entire day giving the Cambodian people food, water, love and sharing my faith with them. My bestfriend went on a mission trip with them a few years ago and this picture has always haunted me.

These sweet boys are playing in a mountain of trash.
With hardly any clothes on. Look at those smiles.
Yes, I would spend all day loving on these babies and their families.

7. What's the most delicious thing you've ever eaten?
I'm not sure if it's the MOST delicious thing I've ever eaten but it's the first thing that popped in my head. At a small, little Italian restaurant in Asheville you can find these amazing balls of happiness... This is how Fiore's describes it:
"The perfect marriage of sweet and savory! Calimyrna figs stuffed with local basil goat cheese wrapped with prosciutto served crisp over arugula & Chianti reduction."
Yes. You should go visit ASAP!

8. What scares you the most? (This can be deep and complex or shallow...whateva you feel like!)
Suffering from Alzheimer's one day. I can't imagine anything more scary than losing your memories and knowing the people you love. It's my biggest fear.

9. Which celebrity do you wish would drift off into obscurity?
Right now....? Niki Minaj. After that performance at the Grammy's it's pretty obvious that girl has done lost her mind. Seriously, cray cray!!

10. You're 16 years old again. What advice would you give your younger self?
Read your Bible more. I recently found my journal from High School and I wanted to strangle myself. I was so preoccupied with stupid things.

11. What's your Starbucks order?
If I'm in the mood for coffee I'd order a White Chocolate Mocha. No coffee, most definitely the Spiced Caramel Apple Cider. Mmmm, both are heavenly!!

My 11 Questions

1. What is your favorite movie of all time?
2. Your favorite trait about yourself? Physical or Characteristically
3. If you had $1000 to spend in any store where would it be?
4. If you could transport yourself in any time period which would it be and why?
5. Favorite fast food guilty pleasure?
6. What's the most important thing you look for in the opposite sex?
7. What's your favorite childhood memory?
8. Advice you've been given that you will never forget?
9. What's your favorite day of the week and why?
10. What's your worst habit you wish you could break?
11. What's your Starbucks order?

Please join in on the fun.... save your post so you won't have to do this twice.... and leave a comment so I can check out your answers! I'd love to get to know my blogging friends a little bit more! :)

Well....

February 9, 2012

I thought that the January "Photo a day" post was a great idea but apparently I wasn't nearly organized enough to save all the photos. Add that to the busy schedule I've had the past couple of weeks and clearly I'm not going to finish January's pictures.

BUT, I have started saving every picture from February so I can add them all in one file. That will be a ton easier than picking through all the pictures I have on my phone. It's kinda ridiculous... I like photos way too much!

Anywho.... the month of love has been swell so far! February has always been one of my favorite months and it's not because of Valentines. Its the month of my birth and since I'm only ONE person I usually split up Birthday celebrations throughout the month. I have nothing against it, this gal can definitely celebrate turning the big 25 all month long! :)

Of course this month if flying by like all the rest. Its inevitable. All I can do is enjoy the ride.

On Tuesday morning I was having some quiet time since I fought the urge to "Snooze" and I'm so glad I did.
I read this and I was overcome with thankfulness!
"If God gives a blessing, he usually gives it in such a measure that there is not room enough to receive it."
Yep... that's exactly how I have felt this year so far. So many blessings and lovely people in my life I don't even know how to soak it all in sometimes. I truly believe that 2012 is going to be a remarkable year for me and my 25th year of life is going to rock. I'm pumped about it.

It's funny how a year ago I thought my life would be in a completely different place yet it continues to change and surprise me. Funny how that happens...

Right now I'm about to enjoy some yummy cheddar biscuits at Red Lobster with my Dad and his side of the fam for my Birthday!  See.... 6 days later and I'm still celebrating, ha! ;)
You... yes you, have a lovely night!!!
