Holy Summer, Batman.

May 31, 2012

I can’t believe that tomorrow is Friday AND also the first day of June!
What the heck!?! Where has this year gone… and why is it going so fast???

Don’t get me wrong, this year has been surprising and amazing so far but I wish it would slow down a little. I’m trying to take in every day for what it’s worth.
Trying not to wait and wish for plans to arrive but that’s hard sometimes.

The weather is getting pretty warm around here… in high the 80’s today. Tomorrow is supposed to be in the 80’s with thunderstorms at night so Summer is definitely here!
Oh, Summer... you have never been one of my favorite months and honestly… you are probably my least favorite but I’m trying to stay optimistic.

Here are some awesome finds from the wonderful world of Pinterest that has made me a little more excited about the next few months.

homemade pops. light and airy clothes. shady spots with a good book.
magical camping locations. pretty drinks and pretty nails. beach dried hair.
& my favorite part, freckles.

Get ready for your favorite parts because they are most definitely coming!!
Hello, June! I guess I'm ready for you... :)

Memorial Day Lunch Date!

May 29, 2012

As I have mentioned before lunch dates are one of my most favorite things and when I get to enjoy them on a Holiday with my favorite man it’s most definitely wonderful!
After working a short day at work it was such a treat to walk down to The Velo Fellow for some grub and then wander over to Blueberry Frog for some sweets. It was a great afternoon with no plans, just a simple walk to find what our tummies were craving.

I’ve been to Velo a handful of times but I’ve never had any food and neither had Boyfriend.
Gladly, we were both pleasantly surprised.
Since I’m such a planner I may have found my Birthday Dinner Spot for my 26th.
{even if it isn’t till next February…}
If you are a fan of Pimento Cheese you must go try theirs.
It could be my new favorite cheesy find since they add a little kick of garlic! YUM!

Handsome man of mine... :)

So happy it was a beautiful day with sunshine, yummy food, cool drinks and quick naps!

Lake Days

May 28, 2012

It was a busy but fun weekend!
I’m starting to love weekends more and more since Boyfriend has to travel so much for work during the week and he doesn’t have the chance to come home every weekend.
This Holiday weekend was simply fantastic though…
even if I had to work on Monday for half a day.

Saturday was mostly spent at the lake thanks to sweet friends inviting us!
We had a great time on the boat with Katie and Cody
and the burgers the men cooked up for lunch were delicious!
That 2 hour nap while squeezed on a small but very comfy couch didn’t hurt either.

Thanks Katie and Cody for the invite!! Can't wait to visit again!

Weekends are such a blessing!!!
I hope your holiday weekend was a ton of fun as well!

Rain and Shine

May 22, 2012

Today has been a strange day.  Sunny morning, cloudy day with a few storms then sunny again... and then stormy again. Its one of my favorite parts of spring and May is one of my most favorite months… it’s so beautiful and bright and full of life.

"You God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water."
Psalm 63:1, NIV
This verse instantly made me think of May and how the Spring showers always come and go so quickly. The earth thirsts for water above… just like how my soul thirsts and longs for God's word and love.

Tonight I got to spend some time with my family and eat some yummy, healthy food and drive around in a pretty storm. I love how these little reminders are straight from heaven… the rain and His word both feeding the parched and dry in this world.
Good night, friends!

Attitude of Gratitude+A prayer request!

May 16, 2012

Today is Wednesday and so far this week I've been thankful for....

1. My job and the funny people I work with on a daily basis. There may or may not have been a machine that made bodily function sounds floating around the office this week. It always makes me laugh when adult men behave like little boys at work.

2. Having a best friend that makes plans with my mom instead of me so then I'm surprised to find out that she is coming over for the season premier of The Bachelorette to make “The List”….

Love her with my whole heart!!

3. Starting my day with the new Jason Mraz CD... happiness! Love is a four letter word. Buy it now!

4. Finally had my hair appointment with the beautiful Amanda Mulford last night. My night included looking at magazines while enjoying some girl talk then some tasty Mexican goodness which also included some wonderful girl talk. Can't complain about any of that!

5. The power of prayer… even when things don’t go the way you want them to I find peace in knowing that God is in control. He hears us and I am so grateful for that!

If you could say a few prayers for a close family friend of mine that would be wonderful, his name is Bill Parker and he is one of the sweetest men I’ve ever met. He's in the hospital in Myrtle Beach but making some progress today since he was taken off life support… it’s a scary situation when we aren’t in control of the ones we love but I know God is in control of every little thing!

Hope you all are having an awesome week.... My throat is super scratchy and I've been sneezing a lot today so I'm going to sip on some hot tea and sit in the sun to soak up some Vitamin D because that's what the doctor has ordered. And my doctor I mean my boyfriend. ;)

Letter to Mom!

May 14, 2012

Mom,

I wish I could explain in words how thankful I am to have you in my life. I know I say it often but it is so wonderful to have a mom that is also a best friend. You were my first friend and I love that we got to grow up together. ;) As I grow older I realize more every day how deep your love is for not only me but for our family and friends. We are all so lucky to have you in our life.

I’m also thankful for the many things that you have taught me the past 25 years. Some of my favorites are….

How to give awesome, tight squeezing hugs.
How to appreciate the small things.
How to enjoy a glass of wine…. And how to put bottles in a bag.
How to cook some awesome pasta.
The importance of pictures.
Planning is always a must.
….even if it means looking at menus before going to a restaurant so you will know what you want to eat.
How to clean when you are irritated… and how when you aren’t irritated music will make all the difference.
Understanding the need of twizzlers for a roadtrip.
The deep love of Mexican food and how it’s perfectly reasonable to want it every day.

All of these are things that I love about you and I’m glad that they have rubbed off on me! Over the past few years I have thought and said things and instantly made me feel like you were talking for me… haha, when this happens I can’t help but smile. And one of my most favorite things is when we either laugh or say something in a conversation and it’s so similar I wonder if I did anything at all.

So thanks, Mom!!! Thanks for loving me, thanks for birthing me… even if it took over a day of labor; I apologize for being stubborn from the beginning. I apologize for usually waiting till the last minute on anything that should take longer than 15 minutes to complete. Please forgive me for my snoozing, over sleeping mornings. And I forgive you for popping me on the head with that wooden brush when I rolled my eyes at you as a teenager. Thanks to you I always think twice before I roll my eyes and that’s what Moms are for, right??

I hope you had a wonderful Mother’s Day… you deserve it!
Love you so much!!!

Little Lunches

May 12, 2012

Lunch dates are one of my favorite things!! I usually keep my lunch schedule pretty busy between my mom, girl friends and the man when he is home so between 12-1 PM on Monday-Friday my time is happy! This week I got to have some yummy lunch at Luna Rosa in downtown Greenville with two of my favorite ladies... Girl time is a necessity and I'm so glad I get to spend some of it when Katie and Jessica.

Weekend Wrap Up!

May 9, 2012

The little weekend trip to NY was definitely NOT little. I’m still not sure how we fit in everything that we did! It was a wonderful weekend surrounded by family and friends, I couldn’t have asked for anything more!! Like always the food was delicious and I can’t wait for another trip. I think one trip a quarter would be sufficient enough. ;) Here are some highlights for you all!

Ride on the ferry
{Thanks Mimi for dropping us off on your way to work!}

We took the bus from the ferry to Broadway!
I love the overwhelming feeling of how tiny you feel when you look up at these buildings! Gets me every time!

Our happy faces in the middle of it all!

One of the many things I love of NYC is the cute flower shop corners!!

We walked through Central Park for most of the day… besides the murky water it was beautiful!
The weather was so perfect!! Apparently we brought the warm sunshine with us. :)

One of the beautiful houses in Bridgehampton. I’d be perfectly happy with this one…

How adorable,,, right??

The happy couple on their special day!!
Congratulations Jordan and Lissa!

A view from an Upper Eastside party, so gorgeous!

I had such an amazing trip and I’m so thankful I got to spend it with this handsome man.

Happy Humpday Everybody!!! We’re almost finished with this week!

Monday Madness…

May 7, 2012

After a quick weekend vacation where flying is involved its impossible for Monday to NOT become maddening. Today’s activities included fighting with the alarm clock a little more than normal. Searching my still unpacked luggage for lost makeup. Checking emails at work… all 43 of them. Eating lunch at my desk so I can catch up on work. Trying to drink TONS of water so hot yoga won’t kick my butt more than it should.

All I have to say is how thankful I am… even with all the annoying Monday {After Vacation} Tasks I am still full of happiness and thankfulness! I am so blessed. The trip to NJ/NY was beyond wonderful!!! I will have a full report later this week but for right now here are a few things that have made me smile today…

1. My wonderful daily devotional book Jesus Calling said “Relax in MY sovereignty, remembering that I go before you, as well as with you, into each day. Fear no evil, for I can bring good out of every situation you will ever encounter.” Seriously… how could you not be filled with happiness when you read that?

2. The normal Monday Chicken Enchilada soup had a little switch up to the recipe at my normal lunch spot {Joel’s Java in downtown Greenville} and I think the changes made it EVEN BETTER!!!! Yes, folks… apparently it is possible. It was more of a broth based soup instead of cream based which I’m sure my skinny jeans will appreciate!

3. The above mentioned hot yoga class {that did completely kick my butt but I gladly welcomed it} made me so happy. Last week I didn't make it at all. NOT. EVEN. ONCE. Man, oh man… I could tell all weekend and I did not like it. After a ton of walking on Friday I could feel my joints tightening and I wanted to kick MYSELF for not making time last week. Making up for it this week for sure!!

4. Bethany Dillon songs on shuffle all day at work ALWAYS makes my heart happy!

5. My sweet, sweet friend Amber {so happy I met her on Instagram} received her surprise package that I mailed to her!!! You all need to check out her lovely blog… she is such a beautiful person, inside and out, so thankful for her!! So glad you got it, Amber!!

Happy Happy Happy! :) Hope you all had a happy weekend and I will fill you in on mine hopefully tomorrow!

a few things I'm NOT a fan of....

May 2, 2012

Packing. Unpacking. Flying alone.

But I'm a happy gal because....

Even though all of these annoying tasks will be done this weekend it’s so worth it!!! I get to spend some quality time with the man I love and I couldn’t be happier. I get to see his wonderful family who I have missed a lot! There will also be a road trip from NJ to The Hamptons and road trips are one of my FAVORITE things to do with Peter. We will listen to awesome music, eat watermelon seeds (I chipped my tooth once so I may skip this part), talk, laugh… making memories. All the things that girls love to do with their man.

So, I can look past the torture of packing… what will I need? Will I really want to wear this? Do I have enough shoes? All these little bottles in this plastic bag just do NOT seem like enough? Crap, my phone charger!

I can look past the unpacking… even though I know it will sit in my floor for a few days before I find motivation to wash it all.

I can look past the flying alone… Hopefully I will have some pretty clouds to take pictures of. Hopefully I won’t be delayed. Hopefully there won’t be any scary bumps. Hopefully I will have a nice person sitting next to me.

Yup, I can look past all these monotonous things because I will have a wonderful trip with a very special person. AND I will take way too many pictures to bore you with later especially since we are planning on spending Friday in NYC. Woot!

Now I'm going to sip on some wine and eat some pizza with my Mom enjoying some quality time before I leave tomorrow! :) Prayers are still GREATLY appreciated. Hope you all have a beautiful weekend and I will be back on Monday! Hollaaaa!
