adorable Burts Bees Baby outfit that is even cuter in person with the stitching!

red, white & blue.
burgers, dips & drinks.
family, friends & babies.
All the good things that a 4th of July includes and ours was packed full of all that goodness. We always love to have a cookout with family and friends and it's nice to just relax and enjoy the day with some people who we love! It's also fun to have friends around who also have babies, watching all of them playing and exploring together was precious.

fresh pico de gallo from our friend Maria! Mmmm
& buffalo chicken dip from my mom with my normal cookout staple, corn salsa!

John Frederick is so stinkin cute!!
Solomon woke up from his nap right before they were leaving so he wasn't too thrilled about the photo op below. That's his "daddy save me" face!

Over the weekend we decided to have a little cookout for the 4th of July! We had a cookout last year and it was a lot of fun, so why not do it again!?! Throw some kabobs on the grill, make my favorite corn salad and enjoy time with friends and their sweet babies. Not to mention all the babies coming for us and our friends, 4 pregnant girls all together makes for some interesting conversation! It was a great night and we are so thankful for the people that are in our life.

^^ all the bellies in order of when we are due!

and one with all the girls, even though it is blurry... still love it!

Hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend welcoming July!

A Hike and a Playground.

July 9, 2014

The title of this post makes you think I may have kids... but if you know me at all then you know that is false. I do however have a sweet nephew that is a lot of fun to play with. It is so wonderful when Peter's brother and sis-in-law come to town with their little man. It is so much fun to watch him grow up. We made our way out to Table Rock on Saturday for a little hike to see some waterfalls, then we enjoyed the playground before we drove back to Greenville.

^^ Splashing in the cold water with Daddy!

^^ seriously, how cute is he!?! Love him!
but of course I was also swooning over his sweet uncle... ;)

^^ view at one of the stops on our drive home. Such a gorgeous view of Table Rock.

It was a wonderful, busy in the best way possible, kind of Fourth of July weekend!
So thankful for the people at fill our life, we are so blessed.

Our 4th of July celebration was a total last minute, thrown together kind of event, but those can be the best kind sometimes. We had some family coming into town and since Peter didn't have to fly off to Alaska for spur of the moment project with work (thank you Jesus!) we decided to have a cookout at the house.  Just the normal - burgers, a big salad, some potatoes, grilled corn, and a lot of fresh fruit! A perfect 4th of July party, if you ask me! It was so nice to have some family and friends around to enjoy the holiday!

It was Jaden's first time meeting the chickens.
It took a little bit but he finally warmed up to them.

The food was so good and fresh since some of it was from the garden.
The bruschetta I made below was made with all fresh red and yellow tomatoes from the yard.
my new favorite side for any cookout!
Grilled corn mixed with a tablespoon of butter, sprinkle salt and paprika and fresh cilantro.

Yummy food, friends & family made for a wonderful night!
I'm just mad that I forgot to buy the sparklers...

Today is my Friday thanks to the wonderful 4th of July holiday tomorrow. Thankful, I am!! We aren't even sure what our plans are for the weekend but those kind of weekends are great after several weeks of planned schedules. When I think about the 4th I automatically think of Old Navy. Every year I find myself checking out what they have in red, white and blue, and they never let me down! Oh, and yes... that is the chicken coop way back there behind our garden. One day I'll let the girls join me for some photos. ;) Hope you all have a great holiday, Happy Independence Day!!!

4th of July!

July 5, 2012

Fourth of July was an interesting day….
I woke up with some ickyness in my tummy (yes, I still say tummy at 25. So what?) but had to go on to work since I was the smart one that volunteered in my department. Most of the day was spent catching up on work since it was slow and I hoped that some lunch would help with the stomach pain. That’s was not the answer, but a nap was!
Thankfully after a quick nap and some relax time I felt all better!!

Peter and I took my mom out for some dinner and fireworks in downtown Greenville.
It was fun, just the three of us… sipping on some beer, eating some food and enjoying the fireworks.
The traffic after wasn’t as much fun but it was worth it because I love spending time with two of my favorite people!!
Even if it means sitting in a car stuck in traffic! And listening to REM because Peter wanted to.
Honestly, I’m not a fan. Just sayin...

Hope you all had a magical July 4th with all the fireworks and fun you could stand!!
It’s almost Friday… that deserves a little happy dance.
Do it, a little jiggity jig never hurt ya!
