Sweater Weather.

November 13, 2014

I've been told I have a polkadot addiction, but I think there are much worse things to be addicted to. Something about a polkadot print makes me happy, it's just fun. Ya know? So when I saw this sweater at a Banana Republic outlet I wanted it BAD. I was strong, I didn't give in, the price was still a little high. Then my second trip to a Banana Republic outlet was a much happier experience since the sweater was 50% off!! I snatched this baby up so quickly. Now I only wish I would have bought two since they had so many color combinations... it is so comfortable!!

Matching leaves and pumpkins.

October 30, 2014

I'm not much of an orange gal. If I'm supporting the Clemson Tigers, I normally go for the purple accents instead of the orange. Purple I can do... orange, not so much. So when I saw that the trend this week for the Spotlight Weekly Linkup with Living in Color Style & Stylin in St. Louis was Orange & Black, I wasn't sure what to do. I realized after a little searching that I really like burnt orange. Which is mainly red with a hint of orange. That is much more comfortable for me to wear. This shirt has been in my closet for years and I love to pull it out around this time of year. The delicate scallop design and the thin fabric is perfect for the fall with a cozy cardigan. It's also fun to match the leaves and pumpkins! And can I also point out how gorgeous my mums are right now, I can't believe they are still alive and that I am actually remembering to water them! High Fives for me!!

old reliable.

October 23, 2014

I was so excited when I received these boots many, many Christmas gifts ago. It was one of those times when I was shopping with my mom and fell in love with these and she offered to buy them and then wrap them up for Christmas. I was surprised to find such awesome boots from K-Mart and I haven't had such luck since but these things have seriously lasted forever. Even before Peter. Almost 6+ years... that is a long time for cheap boots, right? I love them and I may shed a tear when I have to part with them, but for now they are my old reliable boots.

rain hat.

October 16, 2014

I haven't been able to find the perfect fall floppy hat yet, but this hat is also one of my favorites! It's an old reliable of mine that I tend to forget about. I prefer to wear a hat to protect my hair from rainy days instead of a rain jacket sometimes, so I try and remember to pull this one out when we are having nasty weather. The weather has been cool and drizzly this week so I've been thankful for the garage at home and the garage at work. I'm glad that I don't have to venture out into the mist or rain drops every day but this little hat is nice to keep my hair in place and my ears warm.

Some Flannel, Boots and a Chick.

October 9, 2014

Greenville was blessed with true fall weather over the weekend!! It even felt like it was almost winter on Saturday night since it was in the 40’s. I didn’t mind one bit, I was so excited to dig out my sweaters, boots and thick wool socks! Or steal my husband’s socks. On Sunday we enjoyed an early morning with some adorable three year olds and then went to the late church service. We had communion like we always do on the first Sunday of every month but it felt more refreshing than normal. More sacred. October is here and it feels like a fresh start in many ways. Stepping into our second year of marriage, finally finding a comfortable spot to serve in our church and loving on sweet kids, enjoying this beautiful weather that this new month brings… it is all good stuff and I’m so thankful for it! I’m also thankful for cozy flannel shirts and the cute chickens that make our backyard a little more fun. Sunday was a great day. Except for the Jets losing, but we won’t talk about that.

^^ that's Tina Turner. She's our tallest chick so she of course wins that name.

this necklace.

September 25, 2014

I remember gasping when I saw this necklace for the first time! We were on vacation in Charleston and shopping in Target for some things that we needed for the house. While we were waiting in line to pay, this little gem caught my eye. Peter doesn't normally support my jewelry purchases since he says "I have enough..." and even though he may be right, I plead my case. Thanks to the help from my sis-in-law (thanks, Joy!) I won and I brought this pretty little baby home!

I really love the simple elegance that a statement necklace can bring to a casual outfit. Especially chambray! This outfit will definitely be on my rotation during the fall weeks ahead.

Fall Neutrals.

September 18, 2014

One of my favorite trends for every fall would definitely be the warm neutrals. I love the cozy and easy style that the earth tones create. I'm also loving the amazing weather that we are having right now! It feels like Fall has almost arrived and I'm praying that it is here to stay, especially after a super hot weekend in Savannah. Greenville was so kind to welcome us with an amazing cool breeze and I was more than happy to pull out this neutral sweater. It is such a great piece for the fall transition months even if the sleeves need to be pushed up a little.

Summer to Fall.

September 4, 2014

Honestly, I feel like I have to dress for the transition to Fall every single day in the summer because I apparently work in the North Pole!! My office is freezing. So when I was trying to figure out what I wanted to wear for this weeks Fashion Trend, Transition to Fall with Living in Color Style and Stylin in St. Louis, I felt it only made since to show a little work wear. It usually works out well since I leave my cardigans hanging at work so no matter what I wear I always throw on a cardigan when I walk in. Then on lunch breaks I can take it off and enjoy the sunshine outside without the extra layers. Pretty much the same thing we do in those awkward months when it is warm during the day and chilly at night. This time of year is my favorite!!! Football has started, Sam Adams Octoberfest beer is in the fridge and I'm waiting patiently to pull out my favorite boots!

bright and happy.

August 28, 2014

This shirt always reminds me of something a three year old could paint and I love it! Bright colors always make me happy!! It is seriously great for everything which is the best part about a reliable tank top. I wear this to work with a blazer, on a summer night with some shorts, in the fall with a black cardigan and of course it looks great with a pair of white skinnies! It's one of those old reliable tops that I'll always reach for.

sometimes you just need a simple ponytail!

Ten Dollar Treasure.

August 21, 2014

At the beginning of Summer I was doing a little shopping in Marshalls for some great steals when I found this lovely jumpsuit. My mom had been telling me that I needed to buy one but I wasn't sure how it would look on me since my legs are pretty short. Anytime I had seen one in person the woman wearing it was super thin with legs for days. I instantly decided that a jumpsuit was not my thing. Then I found this one. It was hanging all by itself on the clearance rack for a whopping $10! Of course I snatched this baby up and ran for the fitting room crossing my fingers it would work. I wasn't completely sold since I didn't have on the right shoes or the right bra (you know how that goes, right ladies??) but since it was only $10 I thought I’d be crazy to not buy it. Once I got it home, I was so happy that I took the chance. It is SO comfortable and the perfect outfit for a relaxed night with girl friends or a date night with my man!!
