friday mornings.

July 31, 2017

The past several months have been spent doing the same thing, almost every Friday, and we love it! Unless Solomon is sick, or I'm sick, or it's raining, we are at Swamp Rabbit for some playtime with friends. I have my friends, and they have their babies, who are conveniently Solomon's friends! ;)
A total win/win.

Solomon gets so excited each week when I tell him where we are going. He exclaims "mooooothi!" because he knows we get to split a yummy treat. A big smoothie full of local fruits & dairy, paired with a perfect cheddar and kale scone. The perfectly crunchy and fluffy scone  is the most exciting part to me, honestly. Don't get me wrong, I love my friends, but that scone is amazing! Sadly though, they are taking a break from the kale scone since kale isn't in season now. Just another reason to look forward to September! Mmmm, my mouth is watering right now just thinking about it. Until then, we will enjoy some cheese puffs, which are also very tasty.

Friday mornings are the best! It's a dirty mess and all the toys are hand me downs that have been loved by many kids. But I think that's what I love most about Solomon playing there. It doesn't need to be fancy, just a fun morning with his friends. Definitely check out Swamp Rabbit if you are in Greenville, it's worth the trip!

park dates.

November 9, 2016

At least once a week, my friend Jill and I, meet at the park with our boys to let them play. We also walk at least a mile (it has to be a mile, right, Jill???) or until one of the boys are kicking and screaming to play. It is so wonderful to get some vitamin D and fresh air. It's also such a gift to have a friend that is so similar with parenting styles. Open conversations, no judgement & having a chance to bounce ideas off of one another, and sharing stories from the crazy life of being a stay at home mom.

How killer does she look... such a beautiful pregnant super mom^^^

Being a stay at home mom has always been a huge dream of mine & I'm thankful every day for the blessing of being able to live that dream. But recently, I have been struggling with the concern that it might not be enough. I guess it could be some kind of one year itch, or more likely, the devil weaseling his way into the small crevices of my heart, that aren't being filled with God and His perfect peace. I started toying with the idea of doing a little something for fun, to earn some money as well. After a week or two of "thinking" about it, it was pretty obvious that was not the best idea. Peter gently (so thankful that he is always so gentle) reminded me of how important my job is. And like I said, I'm so thankful that I have the freedom to be a full time wife and mom, and nothing else. That is a HUGE blessing. Within 10 minutes of deciding to skip the pipe dream idea, I felt so much relief and steadiness.

I truly believe that this season of life is going to be hard. The days are going to be long, the weeks are going to fly by, and before you know it my baby boy will be a big boy. So I'm going to settle into my place on the messy living room floor to play; reading all the books, building the legos, and I'm going to do it with a grateful heart. This is my dream & I'm so blessed to be living it!!

Sights + Seats // Swamp Rabbit Cafe & Grocery

February 1, 2016

One of the best things about being a new mom is all the friends that are new moms as well. Meeting new people because I'm now in this phase of life. Scheduling "play dates". Going on walks with strollers and friends. Crazy things that I never thought could be so nice and appreciated during a long week and that's just what I enjoyed last Friday. There has been a little group for boy mommas created within my friends since we are all blessed with little men of our own & Friday was our first time hanging out. Just four of us but it was nice. I was also excited to check out the Swamp Rabbit Cafe and the Swamp Rabbit Trail since I haven't had the chance to yet.

A little snack and coffee from the cafe! This cheddar and kale scone was so good, and they had Counter Culture coffee which is always a favorite of mine.

While we were walking I realized that Solomon was getting hungry. I stopped to pick him up and nurse him and I guess the other guys realized they were hungry, also. So here we are, standing on the SRT nursing our babies. It was funny and I loved the double takes we got from the many bikers that passed us. I also love that Kiefer's big brown eyes are peeking up in the picture above. So sweet!!

sweet face, little booger and all! ;)

I know that we will be making our way back to the Swamp Rabbit Trail again soon, and I'm excited to check it out one weekend with Peter and Solomon. It is a perfect spot for a little family date day!
