celebrating four years & a new baby.

October 10, 2017

Peter and I were so excited to have a chance to get away for a day date over the weekend!! It was our first day date since having Solomon. We had plans to make an overnight trip but decided just a long day away would be best. Thankfully, Asheville is close enough to make the perfect little day trip. We are hoping to make a couple more trips this fall. Our busy Saturday was the best way to celebrate four years of marriage and a little babymoon fun to celebrate our latest bun in the oven. I honestly can't believe how fast this pregnancy has flown by!

We started the morning with a trip to Tandem and I was so excited to test out some of the new fall flavors!! I got the lavender honey latte and Peter got the spiced apple waffle. I decided to try the blueberry crepe and I was so happy I went with my gut, the sweet blueberry was much better than the spiced apple. Sorry, babe.... haha!

Once we finished breakfast we took the short 45 drive to Sierra Nevada for some beer and amazing food. One thing I can honestly say about this place is how wonderful the menu is. I don't even feel deprived as a pregnant lady visiting a brewery!! I told Peter we need to head back again sometime this fall with an empty belly so we can enjoy more of the menu. Since we just needed a snack, we decided to get the pimento beer cheese with pretzels, it was delish!

After some more brews and snacks in downtown Asheville, we drove back to Travelers Rest to finally try out a spot I've been dying to visit, Restaurant 17. Once again, we weren't exactly starving so we each tried one entree but I'd love to come back again and try more of the menu. This spot always has an evolving menu so I know we will have another date night here at some point. Our meals were very good.

So thankful to do life with you!!! You are the sweetest hubby and the best daddy, I can't wait to tackle parenting TWO BOYS with you. I know you'll make the ups even higher and the downs a lot less stressful. Love you, Babe!!!

sushi & two years of marriage.

October 7, 2015

We celebrated our 2 year anniversary a little late since we had that sad hospital stay last week on our actual anniversary. I was in no rush to get out and celebrate, but Solomon is back to his normal happy self, and my mom (Gigi) was happy to come over for an hour so we could get out for some sushi! It was a nice night away and I devoured a lot of raw fish.

When we showed up, the sushi chef said hi and noticed that I wasn't pregnant anymore. He then said "no baby??" and I told him he was at home with grandma. He asked if I was excited to have a beer and I told him I was here for raw fish! I also said a beer would be nice... but I could do that at home, I can't eat yummy raw fish at home. It was awesome to sit down and have some one on one time with Peter while we shared a beer and some sushi!! The perfect kind of date night, in my opinion.

And when Gigi sends pictures of this little man, you rush home as soon as you are finished eating and get some sweet kisses!!! It was so much fun to have a night out with Peter but it was also pretty dang sweet to come home to this little guy :)

2 years.

a little walk down memory lane on this special day........

I'm so thankful to have this man as my husband and even more thankful when I watch him as a father. He is so good, just a good person in general, and always brings out the best in me. That is so comforting and I'm glad I can call him mine. You are a good catch, babe, and I'm so glad I have you around to catch me when I need it. Love you so, so much!

a date night at home.

November 7, 2014

And here we are with the last set of pictures.... I didn't intend for this week to turn into a "look at me and my hubby, every single day" kind of thing but it happened. Ooopps, hope you all can forgive me. I just couldn't wait to share all of these and heaven knows I couldn't share them all in one post. That would be over kill for sure!

Anyways... One of my favorite things about marriage is having date nights at home. Before we were married we didn't really have a chance to cook dinner together and sit down at a table alone for a date. I love nothing more than cooking dinner while sipping on a glass of wine with my hubby. Getting a little dressed up, throw on some jewelry and spritz some perfume. (then run upstairs and wash your face and put on your PJs before turing on Netflix, duh.) I knew that I wanted Red Apple Tree Photography to capture this, because this is "us". Minus the PJ part, of course. ;)

So thankful for this man, our house and the love that we get to share in it.
The wine, pasta and couch snuggles are pretty awesome, too!

cake and dancing is always a good idea.

My mom went by strict instructions to freeze our wedding cake topper and it safely sat in our freezer until our one year anniversary photo session. I wanted to have some pictures taken of us eating our cake together and toasting to our first year of marriage. It has been such a great year and I think it is important to celebrate that. Celebrating all of the moments that have filled our year one. I'm already loving year two, and I'm so excited to see where we are a year from now. Now, on to the cake!

high fives and kisses for a great first year as Mr. & Mrs.

Then we went out on the back porch for a little dancing....
this guy.... love him so much!

I loved getting dressed up for some cake and wearing some of our wedding pieces again! Peter's tie & cuff links, my wedding shoes & jewelry... all of it makes me giddy. That man though, he makes me the giddiest!

that Peter and I have learned over the past year as husband and wife!
