Turn your ear to heaven...

February 12, 2011

Friday night was awesome!!  Thanks to our wonderful friend Allen Sligh (aka Chris Sligh's brother) we got reserved tickets for Winter Jam at the Bilo Center which also meant that we got to go in early and found a great seat.  We were VERY thankful once we saw the line that was a mile long full of crazy, screaming kids!!

The show was so great!  It's such a powerful thing to be in a VERY large room with TONS of people that are worshiping one God.  David Crowder Band was insane, Francesca Battistelli was adorable, and everyone else was awesome too.

I just can't get over how awesome David Crowder is though... he is incredible.  This was my second time seeing him live, the first time was a few years ago at Passion where I got to enjoy his music for THREE days so last night was a tease.  BUT, it was still wonderful!

We snuck out early so we could beat all the traffic and went to Carolina Ale House for dinner... where I was VERY good and ate a Grilled Chicken Salad.  I've stayed under my points every day this week & I had a total of 15 points from working out so I thought it would be very reasonable for me to have a little cheese and ranch dressing on my salad! ;)  I definitely enjoyed it!  We had a great time with our little, double date fun night.  I'm so blessed to have these 3 people in my life!!

We also adopted a little boy from India!!  :)  He is so adorable... Peter said he wanted a little girl but when we got back to the tables and started looking at all of the sweet faces we both pointed at the same one and he looked so much like a baby Peter. haha... of course we had to pick him.

Tomorrow is Sunday which means the weekend is almost over!! :(  Why must it go by so fast?!?! I'm having a mini Birthday celebration with my Dad's side of the family at Green Room for Brunch after church.  I'm pretty excited.  Have a YUMMY Bloody Mary and some awesome food... and since it will be so beautiful I might squeeze some gelato in as well!  YUM!

Just a little update on my Grandma... she is doing well, the main vein behind her knee was 100% blocked but they were able to open the vein and insert a stint. Which means she should have enough blood flow to save her foot... that's if she starts eating the way she should.  I was spending some time with her today and helping her write down her grocery list, which also meant I was informing her that she did NOT need half the things she was asking for.  It's definitely going to be a uphill battle for her since she's never had a healthy diet.  I told her I was going to do some research and figure out what she should be eating every day and help her with it.  Please keep up the prayers for her and our family while we try and help her.  She can be stubborn woman... but then again we all can!! ;)

Hope everyone has had a beautiful weekend and have a blessed Sunday!

....a few things

February 10, 2011

So, with my new "I'm 24 and I'm going to be super healthy" attitude I have noticed a few things.

  1.  I actually LOVE the gym!  I found myself last Friday wanting to go after work... but I couldn't because I had plans so I went Saturday morning at 9:30!!  Definitely a first for me.
  2. However, one thing that I HATE about the gym is the skinny, annoying girls that show up with their make up just perfect... mascara, lip gloss, blush, the whole nine yards and the ENTIRE time they are playing with their phones and not even breaking a sweat!  Drives me CRAZY!  Grrrrr!!!
  3. Starting Weight Watchers again has been wonderful!!!  I'm thinking now about what I eat not because I want to lose weight but because I want to be as healthy as I can.  Especially with my family history.
  4. Speaking of family history... my Grandmother is having surgery tomorrow morning since the blood isn't flowing to her feet because of her diabetes.  Diabetes runs in my family, on both sides... BUT most of my family that has had diabetes or currently has it does NOT take care of themselves like they should.  My Grandmothers parents both passed away with no legs.  The surgery she's having tomorrow morning is a pretty important surgery... they are going to go in through her groin to try and clear her veins so her foot will get blood flow.  BUT if this doesn't work the only option left is amputation.  Talk about a WAKE UP CALL
I guess I've learned a lot in this first week of being 24!!!  I just hope I can keep it up, I'm really thinking of this as a Life Style Change... not just a change for a month and then back to my unhealthy habits.  Let's be honest... I will have my cheat days but that's a LOT better than my cheat months that I used to be a fan of!

I would love it for everyone to keep my Grandmother in your prayers tomorrow and the next couple of weeks.  It's going to be a tough time for her and our family.  Thanks so much & I really appreciate it!

an insignificant event......

February 8, 2011

We had a Rock Band I mean, Super Bowl Party on Sunday and I'm just now getting around to adding the pictures.  Peter hasn't had a party at his house since the one where we met (and actually spoke to each other) except for my 23rd Birthday Party and that's just sad!  So clearly I was very excited when he said he wanted to have a party for the "Insignificant Event" aka, Super Bowl without The Jets playing.

The party started a lot like this....

And a lot like this....

Then the game started and everyone sat around chatting, eating and enjoying each other.  It was a wonderful, chill party!  Then because we had 2 TV's showing the game we decided to do some more of this during the halftime show....

The rest of the night was a lot of fun mainly because of these ladies!!
Since The Jets weren't playing I honestly didn't care to watch the game except for the last 10 minutes.

I hate that Jocie missed this picture... and I wish we would have taken more but the camera was MIA for most of the night.

I did get to squeeze in one with my favorite man though!! :D

So glad he finally had another party!!!  We need to do that more often...
maybe a Rock Band Party!?!?!  80's attire required!?!

Night of Super Duper FUUUUN!

So, let me start by saying that I had 1 glass of wine and 2 mixed drinks so I was completely sober during the pictures below....

I just have amazing friends that I can't help but have a COMPLETE blast with.  And I'm so thankful for that!!!

Okay, now onto the night of SUPER DUPER FUN!!!

We started the night with plans on eating dinner and having drinks at Carolina Ale House but we were a little iffy about getting a table for 15 people (We tried to make reservations... apparently they don't take them on weekends.  yes, very dumb!) but we thought we'd give it a shot!  After finding out there would be a TWO hour wait for a table we figured that wasn't going to work.  After calling and texting everyone we decided on Sassafras.  Once again, no way they could seat 15 people.  THANK GOD for Trio's... it was amazing, they were so nice and everyone could fit at one table!!!

I enjoyed a glass of Kendal Jackson, Chardonnay and
some delicious pasta with this handsome man beside me!
sidenote:my hair looks REALLY red recently and I LOVE IT!  :D

After some dinner we went down to Rey's for a little bit...
Girls picture, with Peter creeping of course!
....he thinks he's funny.

My BEAUTIFUL friend, inside and out!
I absolutely LOVE sharing Birthday fun with her every year.
I know for a fact that we will never have a Birthday without thanking of each other,
even when we are in our 80's I'm sure we will call each other and say
HAPPY BIRTHDAY... or hopefully we will be celebrating with a glass of wine like we do now. ;)

Of course we can't go out dancing without shakin it at Blu Martini!!!
It's a must... no doubt about it.  We had SO much fun!!!
I know I say this a lot BUT, I LOVE MY FRIENDS!
Despite Peter's face I will remind you that we were all sober. haha!!

Ever since High School I have had the joy of "doing life" with these two!
I really am blessed!!!

This picture was actually upside down before I downloaded it because
Peter thought it would be fun to take a picture with a camera thats... well,
upside down. Clearly we thought it was funny since we are having a
little chuckle mid picture.  This reminds me of a picture we took in HS
on Senior Day right before graduation.  I am so happy we still love each other!

So, those are just a few highlights of the Birthday Fun!  I'm so excited to see what 24 has in store for me... it's going to be a wonderful year, I can feel it!!

For a Monday today was pretty solid.... not too busy at work so I got some much needed catch up work done BUT I still got to chat with my wonderful co-workers.

Had a nice workout AND I got to go watch Peter play basketball.  Thankfully without any injuries tonight.  He also scored!!!  When the ball went in the net I almost screamed but I held it back and settled for a very loud clap.  I was screaming and jumping on the inside though!!  They totally kicked butt all game so I was a proud girlfriend... it didn't hurt that I was sitting on the wrong side of the court with the other team.  Not sure if they enjoyed my clapping the entire time...

Best B-DAY Ever Wrap Up... and a date night!

February 5, 2011

Thursday was the BEST Birthday EVER!  It was so nice to have the day off and enjoy it!

On my last post I mentioned the possibility of shopping and I definitely lucked out!!!  On a whim I went to Target just to see what they had since I haven’t been there in a while and I was so happy I did.  I got THREE pair of jeans for only $50!  2 Trouser style that I have been trying to find for a loooooong time, one dark denim and one that’s a medium wash and more relaxed style… and then a pair of skinny black jeans, which I have also been trying to find for a while.  Clearly, I was super happy!  Also found a lovely shirt at Marshall’s that you will see in the pictures below!!

I believe with my WHOLE heart that I have the best friends in the entire world!  God has truly blessed me and I love it!  My Birthday Dinner was so amazing thanks to the special people in my life.  Here are some highlights below!

All the ladies that aren’t only friends but the sisters I never had!

My wonderful Mother and Auntie Laura!!!
So glad she could come but we missed you Auntie Peg!

 My wonderful boyfriend, of course!!

My favorite meal at Harry & Jeans,
Filet Marsala with Cheesy Mashed Potatoes

It was such a perfect night!!!
Thanks everyone that came and made my Birthday AMAZING!
I LOVE YOU ALL!

Last night was supposed to be dinner with my Dad’s side of the family but the rainy cold weather ruined everything.  My Grandmother can’t go out in the cold wet air since she has a high possibility of getting Bronchitis so we decided that it would be wiser if we waited till a better time, but that means we will have to wait till next week sometime.  It’s fine though, I’d rather her stay healthy anyways!

Since "Its my Birthday weekend" and because my boyfriend is amazing I got to decide on what we did last night... I was craving my favorite salad from Green Room but Peter thought of The Bohemian which we haven't been to in a while.  To be honest, I sadly forgot about it!  I always get the Pimento and Cheese Burger from there but Peter said I should step out of the box.... and I did.

Dinner started with a delicious beer!
Mine was a Lion Stout (I think...?)
and it was soooo yummy!

Then we had a salad, a LOT like the
one I was craving!  Very tasty with spinach
strawberries, candied walnuts, blue cheese,
prosciutto and a ginger soy dressing.
Also a side of Hummus and pita bread!!!

And then I stepped outside of my comfortable, yummy box...
and got a special and I can't even remember what they called it.
It had couscous with a stew with chicken, olives, artichokes, and spices.

Now, I am not a complainer... especially when Peter is paying for my dinner but it was HORRIBLE!

I picked at it, trying to enjoy it and when he asked if I liked it I couldn't lie... I mean, we've been together for over 2 years now so I can be honest!!!  Now his was amazing!!!  Trout on top of linguini in a cream sauce full of shrimp, sausage, and craw fish.  SO GOOD!  Thankfully he wasn't super hungry after the beer, salad, and hummus so he shared with me!  THANKS BABE!

As for today... went to the gym on a Saturday!  I KNOW... I'm taking this 24th year thing seriously because I've never been in a gym on a Saturday.  haha!!  Now I'm going to get ready for a baby shower for a sweet baby boy on the way and tonight I have another Birthday Celebration for MADISON!!!!!!  Can't wait!!!

Happy Weekending Everyone!!!! :-D
