easter eggs.

March 28, 2018

I was excited to try dying Easter eggs with Solomon for the first time. I knew that it was going to be tricky, and truly test my patience (something I pray for very often!), but I also knew it was going to be a lot of fun. We are fighting a pretty awful cold in our house. Solomon has been sick for about a week now, and yesterday was really rough. He fell asleep in my arms around 3:30 which meant he didn't wake up till almost 6pm. I knew it was going to be a late night, so I thought dying eggs would be a fun thing to do. He really enjoyed it, even with the cold.

I had hopes to make some of the natural homemade dies, but then I realized that I had a toddler and a newborn. ha, realistic ideas, right? So, instead I went to Target and picked up the traditional egg dyes. Honestly, it was super sweet to use them, since that's what I grew up using. I didn't expect the nostalgic sweetness to happen for some reason, but it totally did.  Watching Solomon's face when I put the little tabs in the vinegar was priceless. He was so excited as he saw the magic happening before his eyes.  And since we were dealing with dyes that could stain his shirt, I thought it would be wise to keep on his very dirty shirt from the day. It was covered in his lunch, a PB & honey sandwich, and then pasta from Gigi's house at dinner. Surprisingly, he didn't get any dye on his shirt though!

One of the funnier moments from last night. Peter used the chalk crayon to write on an egg and I saw the JE. I instantly thought he was writing Jesus and I thought it was so sweet.  As the egg started to turn in the bowl, I realized he wrote JETS. HAHAHA, it was funny, and definitely made me laugh. I decided to draw a heart on my purple egg!

The crusty, runny nose.... the very dirty shirt.... and that sweet face.
All of it is such an image of a growing boy, it kind of kills me sometimes when I watch him. But then I see bits and pieces of my baby that has grown into such a sweet boy and I'm thankful to create these memories and new traditions with him.

Asher's first bath.

January 10, 2018

You know that commercial about babies first bath with their first child compared to the second child? Well, that is totally us right now. HA! My mom has always picked on me for the way we handled Solomon's first bath but we didn't really know what we were doing. I don't know why we decided to give him a sponge bath on the cold bathroom floor?!? First time parent problems.

But, with Asher, we definitely felt a little more comfortable with the whole bathing a newborn thing. He surprisingly loved it too. Solomon also loved helping and he didn't try to drown him, so it was a good time.

sweet little face!! Daddy was sweet enough to snap some pictures.

I've been putting off the bath for a while since I didn't want to wash off his new baby smell. It's my favorite thing ever. He smells like a yummy burtsbees baby now, which is pretty sweet, but he doesn't smell like my new baby anymore. It's kind of heart breaking.

Solomon was so excited to help us and pour some water over his legs and feet. Such a sweet big brother!

our first #eliyafamvacay.

June 28, 2016

I was so excited to go on our first family vacation together as a family of three. We have been on so many trips, but this was the first trip alone, and the first without Peter having to work all day. A true vacation!! Some sweet family friends of ours let us use their gorgeous condo in Myrtle Beach and we loved it! The condo was gorgeous and it was nice to relax and just be away from Greenville for a bit.

We went to show Solomon the ocean on our first night of vacation and he wasn't too excited... but, the next day was a different story! He is such a water baby and loved the sand. I've never seen a baby crawling toward the ocean into the waves before, but this guy wanted to surf the waves already.

We were lucky to have some friends at the beach also and got to spend a couple of days hanging out with the Ayer crew! Wyatt and Solomon were so cute playing together!!

I think the best part of vacation was spending time with daddy all day! This guy is pretty attached to his favorite man and he loved getting cuddles and playing with him anytime he wanted. Yesterday was a little rough without him at home with us... I love how much he loves his daddy!
I also tried to use my spare time at the beach wisely and work on my bible study but it wasn't easy... I'm so behind and need to catch up. Nursing a baby and reading doesn't work very well, ha!

I love this picture so much!! The way he is smiling at me, his happiness from being in the water and creating new memories as a family. So much sweetness!!!

We learned that eating outside is the best idea. Solomon loves to watch people, birds and enjoy his meal in the outdoors... sitting inside to eat just isn't as much fun for him. Which means we don't really have a chance to enjoy our meal, either. So, outside dining, a win-win for us!

The tickle spider attacking... his favorite thing lately!
More fun from our vacation, but with Gigi and Ma-ma coming soon.

a night at the drive.

June 2, 2016

We were so excited to be invited to a ball game at Flour Field, to watch the Greenville Drive play with the Haro Group, last night! It's really neat to have used a real estate company that goes above and beyond for their customers. When we bought our house almost three years ago, I didn't realize we would still be celebrating with them, even after buying our home. When I said hi to our buyers agent, he reminded me that the last time he saw me was before we were married. It was so strange, I feel like we have been married for so long now, not in a bad way of course, but because we have done so much in the last two years & eight months of marriage. A lot of that being our first baby. Anyways, I didn't mean to get all sappy in a blog post about a baseball game, but it is nice to have those simple moments of thankfulness when you don't expect them. It was a fun night and I think Solomon enjoyed his first baseball game, plus, I was really excited for him to wear his baseball butt outfit!!

Poor banana, haha!

Such a great night with awesome weather!! What a great way to start the month of June!

snow day.

January 25, 2016

Our weekend started out with anticipation of a lot of snow thanks to storm Jonas. We were seriously let down when we woke up on Friday morning. Just a slight dusting of white stuff and most of it was nasty ice, not snow. Finally, as we were going to bed on Friday night, the ground was covered in snow. I was so excited to wake up the next morning and take some pictures with Solomon on his first snow day. We spent maybe 15 minutes total outside, just the way I like snow days. The rest of the day was spent inside, under some blankets and watching Making a Murderer! The best way to stay warm on a cold day.

My little snow bunny, we love him so much!!
Hope you all had a beautiful and safe snowy weekend!
