Some Flannel, Boots and a Chick.

October 9, 2014

Greenville was blessed with true fall weather over the weekend!! It even felt like it was almost winter on Saturday night since it was in the 40’s. I didn’t mind one bit, I was so excited to dig out my sweaters, boots and thick wool socks! Or steal my husband’s socks. On Sunday we enjoyed an early morning with some adorable three year olds and then went to the late church service. We had communion like we always do on the first Sunday of every month but it felt more refreshing than normal. More sacred. October is here and it feels like a fresh start in many ways. Stepping into our second year of marriage, finally finding a comfortable spot to serve in our church and loving on sweet kids, enjoying this beautiful weather that this new month brings… it is all good stuff and I’m so thankful for it! I’m also thankful for cozy flannel shirts and the cute chickens that make our backyard a little more fun. Sunday was a great day. Except for the Jets losing, but we won’t talk about that.

^^ that's Tina Turner. She's our tallest chick so she of course wins that name.

Fall Neutrals.

September 18, 2014

One of my favorite trends for every fall would definitely be the warm neutrals. I love the cozy and easy style that the earth tones create. I'm also loving the amazing weather that we are having right now! It feels like Fall has almost arrived and I'm praying that it is here to stay, especially after a super hot weekend in Savannah. Greenville was so kind to welcome us with an amazing cool breeze and I was more than happy to pull out this neutral sweater. It is such a great piece for the fall transition months even if the sleeves need to be pushed up a little.

Summer to Fall.

September 4, 2014

Honestly, I feel like I have to dress for the transition to Fall every single day in the summer because I apparently work in the North Pole!! My office is freezing. So when I was trying to figure out what I wanted to wear for this weeks Fashion Trend, Transition to Fall with Living in Color Style and Stylin in St. Louis, I felt it only made since to show a little work wear. It usually works out well since I leave my cardigans hanging at work so no matter what I wear I always throw on a cardigan when I walk in. Then on lunch breaks I can take it off and enjoy the sunshine outside without the extra layers. Pretty much the same thing we do in those awkward months when it is warm during the day and chilly at night. This time of year is my favorite!!! Football has started, Sam Adams Octoberfest beer is in the fridge and I'm waiting patiently to pull out my favorite boots!

The smell of coffee may be overrated.

August 7, 2014

I normally love the smell of coffee. Crave it even. But after you sit at your desk at work ALL. DAY. LONG. with the smell of coffee in your HAIR, you may change your mind. How did my hair become to smell like coffee, you ask? Well, that is a great story.

It was a good morning, one snoozer and a splash of cold water to wake me up. Made time for my bible reading (Job 6-9, definitely not the happiest of chapters) and then made my way back upstairs to get ready for the day. I finished my hair and makeup all while drinking my lovely cup of coffee that my sweet hubby made for me. I got dressed, put on my favorite wedges, brushed my teeth and threw on some jewelry. I grabbed my half empty and now cold cup of coffee to head back downstairs to leave for work, which I was already late for. It was then 8:22 and I need to be at work at 8:30 with a ten minute drive… so I was trying to rush. Rushing so much that I turned my ankle while walking down the stairs which caused a bad fall where I bumped down 3-4 steps on my tush and coffee splashed everywhere. All over my clothes, the carpeted stairs & my newly washed hair. Thankfully, the smell eventually faded. Moral of the story, don't rush down the stairs with a cup of coffee in your hands. Just don't do it!

A Short Story.

June 19, 2014

I'm not a fan of shorts. Never have been. Dresses. jeans. skirts; all great things, but shorts. Ick. I honestly think this is because I haven't ever been able to find the right fit for shorts. A few months ago a co-worker asked me if I wanted to go through some of her clothes before she donated them and I gladly said yes. I found some shorts in the pile of clothes and grudgingly tried them on. I think it was probably the first time I've ever been excited about shorts. AND THEY HAVE POLKA-DOTS! It was a good day. I skipped through the house to show Peter and asked what he thought. He agreed, they got a thumbs up, and the best part of all, they only cost me $5! And, like I said... they have polka-dots!!!

The Perfect Summer Dress.

June 12, 2014

You ladies know when you have those moments in a dressing room that are so exciting you have to do a little happy dance? I can’t be the only one. I’m sure we have all had those moments a time or two. Well, this dress caused a serious happy dance when I tried it on for the first time. I fell in love. I’m a big fan of the maxi dress craze and we all know that I’m a fan of Forever21 so when I saw this dress hanging in the store I think I squealed a little bit. It is the perfect summer dress for so many reasons. It flows effortlessly which helps you stay cool. It is loose and comfortable. And of course it is beautiful! Throw on some wedges and some gold jewelry and you have a perfect date night dress. Love it!

and of course it is tons of fun to spin in!! ;)

First Timer.

June 5, 2014

I have to say, this makes me a little nervous! I never thought I would be posting about clothing or fashion but I am. Back in March I did a little post about what I think about Fashion & it was a lot of fun. I realized that I really do love fashion and I love putting together an outfit. The hair, makeup, jewelry, shoes... all of it! So, I'm stepping outside of my box today and I hope to contiue doing these posts once a week!

Today I am linking up with Living in Color Style & Stylin in St. Louis for the first time. Every week they have a trend to base your outfit around and I'm so happy to join them!!

this week's trend // Favorite Sunglasses

I’m the worst about losing sunglasses. It’s inevitable. For the majority of our honeymoon I was a squinting mess because I left my sunglasses at home. Who flies to California without sunglasses, this girl, that’s who. So I waited until I found the right ones to purchase on the trip. I don’t like to spend a lot of money on them since I typically lose them, so it took a while to find a pair that didn't cost an arm and a leg that I actually liked. Finally, while we were in Monterey we walked by a cute little shop on the boardwalk and I found the perfect ones. They were only $10 and I was excited to have a little souvenir from our honeymoon that I could use every day. Or until I lost them, which I did. So no, the glasses above have absolutely nothing to do with this story. It's just a story about my favorite sunglasses that I no longer have BUT I did go shopping for some new sunglasses and decided to spend a little more cash in hopes that would persuade me to take better care of them. We'll see how that goes.
