One of the biggest parts of Spring for our family is our new chickens. We get to go pick them up, pick out which kind we want, watch them grow up so incredibly fast (it still kind of freaks me out how quickly they grow) and then we put them out in the yard. We gave them little spurts of time outside over the weekend and now they are officially in the coop full time. I can't wait to get some fresh eggs!!! Hopefully they will produce soon and we can start making some delicious breakfast with them. They really do taste so much better.

This picture, so clearly shows his life right now. Always going and ready to see something with his "blaster" in hand. He calls this his Hans Solo blaster, or his small lightsaber. I keep waiting for him to become bored with Star Wars, but it hasn't happened yet. I'm so ready for more days like this. Spending a lot of time outside and watching Solomon explore while I carry Asher on my hip. I've never been an outside kind of person, I normally prefer the AC and the couch, but I'm going to enjoy it this year. Sitting on the deck, playing with bubbles, going for walks, and welcoming the new freckles on my nose and shoulders. Spring, we am so ready for you!!!

We were so excited to have some beautiful weather over the weekend and Peter wanted to celebrate by letting the baby chicks out in the yard for the first time. They have been trying to escape their little box in the garage already, it still shocks me how quickly they grow and learn to fly around. I was sitting on the couch one day last week, holding Solomon has he slept and nursed (thanks to some new teeth coming in!), when I heard a very loud chirping from the garage. I had the tv on and everything, but I could still hear the screams for help. I knew something was going on and guessed that a baby chick had flown out and couldn't find her way back up to the box. I text Peter to see if he could run home for a quick trip and save the day, which thankfully he could. He found one of the chicks on the floor of the garage. We still have a few weeks to build the new coop, and then they will be ready for the yard, once all their feathers are in! I'm honestly a little nervous about integrating the new chicks with the two we have in the yard now. The big chicks were definitely interested and screaming pretty loud when they saw the babies. It's common for additions to not go well. I guess we will find out soon enough.

First worm for the babies, it was an exciting day for them. Sunshine, fresh air and new treats!!

This kid could spend ALL DAY outside. He also points outside frequently and says, "side, bike, ride" and he doesn't give in easily. I have a feeling we will spend most of the spring & summer months outside. I'm not a big fan of being outside, so it's a good thing I love this little guy a lot. The vitamin D will be good for both of us!

Spring is almost here and we are excited to have some new baby chicks in our family! We have two left from our first set of chicks a couple of years ago and they are each still producing about four eggs a week, so we definitely wanted to get some newbies. It was exciting to go see them and pick them out with Solomon. He is pretty much obsessed with the chickens we have now. He's constantly begging to put on his shoes by the back door while pointing to the door exclaiming chicken!! It's pretty cute, so I'm excited for him to watch the new girls grow up. We did a lot of driving around Friday morning to find the chicks we wanted, and they still weren't the exact ones we'd choose, but unfortunately we can only have eight total because of the city guidelines we live in. They all produce eggs, which is the whole reason we have them anyways. I'm just hoping that Whitney & Florence (the two surviving girls) will welcome them without any problems!!

I want some ducks so badly!!!! They are so cute, and the eggs are even better I hear!

If only this guy was old enough to help clean out the coop... ha! Poor Peter has to handle that all on his own right now. I'll just handle the quiche! & Speaking of quiche, I will have my recipe coming atcha later this week. Mmmmmm!!

spring weather littles.

It has been a while since I shared a littles post so I thought it was time! The weather has been so amazing lately and I really love having a barefoot baby on my hip most of the time. I've come to realize that September babies are the BEST since they are at such a fun season right now in the Spring/Summer months. I've always been a fan of spring but now it's just a bit sweeter....

one // watching Peter walk around with Solomon in the back yard everyday after work, while I finish cooking dinner, it is so cute and he gets so excited about having guy time with daddy in the back yard 

two // trying to find restaurants with outside seating for any meals 

three // the cute little one piece short outfits that Solomon wears, his chubby legs kill me in them 

four // eating corn on the cob several times a week because it is the best side for grilling 

five // going to the Saturday Market downtown for the first time because we are actually up in time to go, I think I see a new weekend activity for our family
