a trip to Justus Orchard for apples.

October 16, 2017

We had such a FUN Friday afternoon at the Justus Orchard!! The ride was a perfect hour for a great nap on the way, so Solomon was refreshed and ready to explore, and pick some apples with his cousins. I love that they get to create these memories together, now that they live in Greenville, too. This was actually my first apple picking experience and I loved it. I do wish we would have gone a little earlier in the season so we could have found more apples, but we still had a great time. The prices were also a great deal, and we ended up buying a huge bag of apples from the store, along with what we picked. The Justus Orchard is such a beautiful place, and the weather was great, which made the afternoon even better!

This cute boy kills me.... I mean, come on. I know he's mine but gosh, he's adorable. Just a warning, I have WAAAAAY too many pictures on this blog post but deciding which photos to cut has never been my strong suit, so I just decided to use them all! These boys and the beautiful scenery and memories made it hard to pick.

Jonah ate at least three apples during our time at the orchard!!!

I love this photo so much, all three babies in one shot!!
I can't wait to meet my niece after the new year!

Strong boy pulling Solomon, and Jonah helping... I love them!

The real highlight of the day.... YUM! & I bet you wouldn't believe that the two little boys didn't even want to try one, and Jaden spit his bite out cause it was too sweet. They preferred the apples instead. HA! Weirdos. I gladly ate their part, but don't get me wrong, the apples were pretty great as well!

This little duck loved the apples too!! We weren't sure if he was allowed to have them but he loved helping Jonah finish his apple. He ate the entire thing, core and all. We were also excited to see some goats and feed them some apples.

Family photos, my favorite thing!

Jonah and his very own apple sign, this picture kills me! He's soooo cute!!!

The way these two love each other makes me so happy. I love them to pieces!

I thought it would be fun to retake this shot again, next year, once we have two more little babies in our arms!

Solomon didn't really understand the whole standing up straight for the ruler thing.
The photo next year will be even more exciting, I'm sure! HA! We had such a fun afternoon, and I highly suggest going on a Friday afternoon if you can. It wasn't very busy and we could take our time and enjoy it.

celebrating four years & a new baby.

October 10, 2017

Peter and I were so excited to have a chance to get away for a day date over the weekend!! It was our first day date since having Solomon. We had plans to make an overnight trip but decided just a long day away would be best. Thankfully, Asheville is close enough to make the perfect little day trip. We are hoping to make a couple more trips this fall. Our busy Saturday was the best way to celebrate four years of marriage and a little babymoon fun to celebrate our latest bun in the oven. I honestly can't believe how fast this pregnancy has flown by!

We started the morning with a trip to Tandem and I was so excited to test out some of the new fall flavors!! I got the lavender honey latte and Peter got the spiced apple waffle. I decided to try the blueberry crepe and I was so happy I went with my gut, the sweet blueberry was much better than the spiced apple. Sorry, babe.... haha!

Once we finished breakfast we took the short 45 drive to Sierra Nevada for some beer and amazing food. One thing I can honestly say about this place is how wonderful the menu is. I don't even feel deprived as a pregnant lady visiting a brewery!! I told Peter we need to head back again sometime this fall with an empty belly so we can enjoy more of the menu. Since we just needed a snack, we decided to get the pimento beer cheese with pretzels, it was delish!

After some more brews and snacks in downtown Asheville, we drove back to Travelers Rest to finally try out a spot I've been dying to visit, Restaurant 17. Once again, we weren't exactly starving so we each tried one entree but I'd love to come back again and try more of the menu. This spot always has an evolving menu so I know we will have another date night here at some point. Our meals were very good.

So thankful to do life with you!!! You are the sweetest hubby and the best daddy, I can't wait to tackle parenting TWO BOYS with you. I know you'll make the ups even higher and the downs a lot less stressful. Love you, Babe!!!

a day in our life // 005

October 5, 2017

Almost seven months since my last Day in our Life post. Crazy how much has changed in that amount of time. Over half a year has flown by, and my then big boy, is even bigger. It's so crazy to look at those pictures and see just how tiny he was, compared to how grown up he is now. My belly is bigger too, thanks to the second babe joining our little family. I know all the little details of our day will be so important to look back on, so I really love sharing these posts.

10.04.17 // wednesday
6:30 - Solomon comes in our room and gets in bed with us, like most mornings, but oddly enough he falls back to sleep.
This rarely happens now.

7:30 - Peter leaves for work and wakes me up with a kiss. I get up to get ready for the day while Solomon snoozes in the bed. (Typically, Solomon will go downstairs with Peter and eat breakfast while I get some extra sleep, then I will get up when Peter leaves for work. Like I said, this day was very odd because I got up to get ready, while Solomon decided to sleep in.)

8:10 - I turn off his sound machine and try to let him wake up gently on his own while I get my coffee and do my makeup downstairs. Turning off the sound machine is usually the easiest way to wake him up.

8:35 - I have to go wake Solomon up and get him dressed for my morning bible study. He has woken me up every morning for WEEKS by 7:30 at the latest, until today when we have to be somewhere at 9, of course!

8:45 - we leave the house and he eats his larabar for breakfast in his car seat with a fruit squishy pouch.

9:03 - we make it to the bible study almost on time, somehow. He loves coming on Wednesday mornings since all his best friends are in his class!

best friends, having little best friends, is so much fun!!!

11:00 - we leave the bible study to go home and have lunch with daddy! Solomon gets to eat a chocolate sandwich since he slept in his room all night. We are trying to reward him for sleeping alone with a treat to see if he will continue the good habit.

the flowers in the glass vase are from the night before when Peter took Solomon outside to play. They came knocking on the back window with the flowers in hand for mommy. I loved it!

11:40 - Peter gets home and heats up left over pizza for lunch and shares some with us. Peter spends his lunch hour watching the news and hanging out with Solomon so I can clean up the kitchen some.

12:40 - daddy has to go back to work and Solomon and I have some playtime and clean up the playroom before naptime.

1:15 - we head upstairs to change his diaper and change into some clean clothes to sleep in. We also read a book before I rock him to sleep.

1:35 - Solomon is asleep for a much later nap than normal. He's usually asleep by noon now days since he wakes up so early, but today's 8:30 wake up threw things off a bit.

1:40 - I fold some laundry as I watch the latest episode of This is Us.

2:30 - Peter comes back home from work so I can go to my dentist appointment while he stays with Solomon as he sleeps. It was a quick appointment and I was on my way home by 3:20.

3:45 - soon after I got home, and after Peter went back to work, Solomon woke up from his nap. We take a snack outside and play some baseball in the front yard.

4:30 - we come inside so I can start dinner and get things straightened up before Peter comes home. Solomon has some TV time after I start the soup in the pot.

5:00 - I relax with Solomon in the living room as he plays and watches some tv. His favorite thing right now is jamming with his cardboard guitar. So funny, I love seeing his imagination grow as he learns to pretend.

5:30 - my mom comes over to have dinner with us and watches Solomon as we go to our small group.

6:00 - Peter gets home from work and we sit down to eat before leaving for our group meeting.

Wednesdays are really good days lately, starting with a bible study, and then ending with our community group!

Goals // 10.17

October 3, 2017

September Goals
1 // finish setting up the playroom - I'm so happy with how the playroom is coming together. I still have a lot of organizing and labeling to do, but it has been great so far, and Solomon really enjoys having a playroom now. He'll even tell us to come play with him.
2 // begin the Galatians study - I did not start the Galatians Study like I was hoping but I have some hopes for this month and establishing a new routine with my quiet time in the morning while Solomon is quietly playing also. I want him to see him read my bible and know that it is a part of my day to day life.
3 // spend more time outside with Solomon - now that the weather is fabulous, we have been spending more time outside. It makes him so happy, and as long as it's not blazing hot, I'm happy too!
4 // get out the fall decor and decorate the house - YEP. All the Halloween/Fall decor is out in the house. Makes me smile!
5 // share our complete weaning process - still not finished. This is a big work in progress for me and I will share it eventually when I have time to finish it!

October Goals
1 // consistently have my quiet time in the morning
2 // enjoy a day away with Peter for our anniversary
3 // start working in the baby's room
4 // drink more water
5 // go apple picking & pumpkin picking
