Sights + Seats // Oskar Blues Brewery

April 2, 2015

Last week when we had friends visiting from Missouri, we decided to have a mountain day which I shared a few days ago! It was such a fun day - we had no plans other than to go with the flow and find some fun things to do. After we visited Looking Glass Falls we stopped by Oskar Blues Brewery to check out some beer and see the brewery. Don't worry, the water was tasty as well.

We were also happy to see that there was going to be some live music that night with a food truck. It was awesome, just like you'd expect pretty much anytime music and a food truck is involved. We all shared a ground pork burger, and by shared I mean devoured, so there were no photos for evidence. It was delicious, trust me!

The music was great, the beer was cold (so I heard...), the company was the best and like I said, the food was delicious. I also learned that I'm pretty good at Corn Hole, which was a nice surprise since I normally stink at any kind of sport involved games. All in all, it was a great day! If you have a chance to check out Oskar Blues, I highly suggest you go!! & find out when the food truck will be there, you won't be disappointed.  Also, go check out Cassie's posts on her blog today! Part One from yesterday was so fun to read!!

Mountains, Falls and Friends.

March 30, 2015

Having friends visit for the past few days was so wonderful! Cassie and I have been so excited to have some time to hang out in person (more than just our wedding weekends) and I'm so glad that her sweet husband made it happen for her birthday gift! It is such a cool thing to meet someone and instantly click but also have fun all weekend with our husbands. I guess when you are busy making memories you forget to pull out the camera as much as you'd like, but the memories we did create make me so happy!

We started the day on Thursday with breakfast at Tandem and then went up to Caesars Head State Park and the fog was so beautiful! The higher we went up the mountain, the thicker the fog became. We really didn't have much of a view but it was a lot of fun to find the little cave above and walk around for a bit.

Then we drove to Looking Glass Falls for a beautiful waterfall that we knew we'd be able to see with the fog. I really can't believe I haven't been here before because it is so beautiful.

The rest of the day was spent in Asheville for lunch and Brevard for a brewery and live music, but more on that a little later this week! Of course we had to take our guests to see downtown Greenville and I'm so thankful that the rain held off for most of Friday so we could enjoy it. Besides a little bit of mist off and on, we were good to go for a lot of walking downtown.

There was a lot of eating and laughing during the three days we had to spend together. It was so wonderful to have our sweet friends in town and show them around all of our favorite places, and even find some new places with them. I can't wait for the next time we are all together, whenever that may be!

Some moms, their girls and a little wine...

July 15, 2013

For the past couple of weeks there have been some plans developing for a fun night at the Biltmore Estate! My new friend (and second cousin but I’m just going to go ahead and drop the second title… she’s my cousin), Meghan and her sweet Mom are both pass holders for the Biltmore and during the lovely months of July & August they can bring a guest with them for FREE on Friday nights. Once my Mom and I heard of this glorious news we did what any family/friend would do. We invited ourselves to a Friday night of fun at the most beautiful house in North Carolina. I've visited Biltmore a few times but it has been a long while since the last time and even longer since my Mom has been. So, we were excited! Any Friday you get to leave work early and take a little drive to a “Girls Night Away” is okay by me, especially when that Girls Night includes a free wine tasting. High five for wine, am I right?
Now its time for the picture overload. Prepare yourself.

Yea…. It was gorgeous and so much fun. I love these ladies so much and I’m so happy that my Mom and I have reconnected with this part of our family. I'm really happy that Meghan decided to move back to Greenville. It was such a good decision because now I have a new cousin and friend. I'm still not even close to catching up with Peter and his thirty something cousins but I'm thankful for me three!!

Falling for Fall...

October 12, 2010

I love long weekends!!!  Very happy I had yesterday off but that always makes Tuesdays feel like Mondays and I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing.  It does make the week shorter… but who likes Mondays?!?  Over the weekend there was so much to do so of course it flew by!

Fall for Greenville is seriously one of my most favorite things about Greenville!!!  It was definitely packed downtown on Saturday but it was well worth it.

Peter and I spent the day munching on some food at a few of the tents… Sassafras for my Fried Green Tomatoes (of course!!) and we stopped by Brown Street for some yummy food too!  Most of the day we watched football at Green Room (recently awarded Best New Restaurant Downtown) which is now my new favorite place!

It’s so quaint and has great beer… everyone that works there is SOO nice and they always remember us.  We go there almost every weekend now to watch some games.  We also had some food from their tent, of course delicious!

After a day of snacks and football we headed down to Halfway to Habana since Peter planned for all of our friends to meet up for some drinks and conversation.

It was so great!!!  We don’t do that nearly as often as we should.  There was a good, 20 people there at one point!

The party headed to Addy’s after that and then to Blu Martini (A MUST!) where we had a blast dancing… even though the music selection was not the best.
It’s impossible not to have fun when I’m with these ladies!!

And my man too of course!!! :)  Love this picture so much!
I believe it was a very successful day and night!!

On Sunday I dragged Peter to The Biltmore Estate and I am soooo glad I did because he really liked it!!  Like I mentioned before I’ve been asking on and off for about 2 years now so I was super pumped!  It was such a perfect day to go… everything was beautiful with the leaves starting to turn.

The house of course was perfect.  I still can’t believe that people actually lived here and called it home!  Completely baffles me…

After touring the house and sitting down for an iced coffee and peanut butter cookie we headed to the Antler Hill Village which is pretty new.  Along the way we stopped to see this beautiful waterfall and bridge!

On one side of the bridge you see this!!

Then the other looks like this!

Then Peter had the bright idea to walk up the hill to see if we could get a glimpse of the house and I was very happy we did (even though I didn’t have on the most comfortable walking shoes) because it was so beautiful!!

And this is what we hiked walked up… ;) we were down by the river.

After we walked back down we hopped back in the car and drove to the Antler Hill Village!  It’s such a beautiful place…

And they had PUMPKINS!!!!!!!!

We even got to have some German food at the Oktoberfest tent! :)

Finally we went on the Winery Tour and did some wine tasting and even bought 3 bottles!!  Perfect end to a perfect day!

Next thing to look forward to… Girls Night on Thursday!  YAY!
