Back Hall (& bathroom) Re-Do // Part Four

January 12, 2015

The project is almost completely finished but we still have some decorating/finishing touches to do and I'm too impatient to wait for the full post, so I thought I would share some of the ending details now. We were so thankful for our brother-in-law that was in town for Christmas and unselfishly chose to do some work at our house with Peter. He helped us with all of the little details that would have taken a lot longer with just me and Peter. This also meant I didn't have to do much other than mop, so that was pretty awesome. ;)

Peter did an amazing job with all of the tile and the grout!
I am so proud of him and I can't wait to see what our other two bathrooms will look like
in a few years, now that he knows how to complete these kind of projects.

Once the quarter round was in place everything started to look complete.
This is where Reinaldo stepped in and helped, we were very thankful
& after some fresh white paint on all the trim, everything looks bright and new!

funny fact.....
the towel stayed in place during the ENTIRE renovation. HA!
I didn't realize it until after we were finished and the sink was in place at how dirty it had become.
I can't wait to share the completed look with all of you very soon!

Back Hall (& bathroom) Re-Do // Part Three

December 8, 2014

I am so happy to say that the back hall way and guest bath room are coming together. I'd be lying if I said I didn't have my doubts but after a lot of questions and a lot of work we can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel! Most of the weekend was spent in that small area with my hubby as we worked on it together. We are tired. Sore, painful knees and tight backs, and tired. But it's all worth it!

^^ we were excited to find the same linoleum from the bathroom
in the hallway under the old white linoleum!
(strong sarcasm.)

^^ wearing your husband's old shoes.... that's love.

^^ Teamwork.... Peter screwed all the pieces of hardie backer board in to place and I did the taping.
It was fun to do this project together and I know we will love our home even more because of it!

so far so good..... & have I mentioned that I'm tired??
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!!!

Back Hall (& bathroom) Re-Do // Part Two

October 27, 2014

We are in the first stages of our planning process for our back hallway & half bath renovation. I get so excited when I think about the changes that will take place. This will completely change feel and style of our home once it is completed. Everything about it right now screams 70's because that was when our house was built, and we don't think there has been any significant updates since then. There's only so much a gallon of paint could do, am I right? This has been the #1 item on my To Do List since we moved in because this is the area that everyone uses when they visit. My wishlist items are below....

I can't wait to see how things turn out and share the process here!

Any advice, ideas or suggestions??
I'd love to hear them :)

Back Hall Re-Do // Part One

September 19, 2013

I’ve never been a big fan of the color blue but something about this house has changed my mind. I absolutely love it!! It is such a happy and calming color so I decided to add a pop of happy in the back hallway with some pretty blue doors!

^^^ little blue birdie on the shelf in the kitchen thanks to my mom.
I have named her fergie the birdie!

When I decided I wanted to do this peter wasn’t so sure about it but the closer I got to actually painting them he became more comfortable with it. Then when the night came for me to seriously paint the doors blue he said something like, “sure, whatever” but not in a jerk-face kind of way. In a, I trust you so do it, kind of way. So of course I happily started painting this beautiful blue color on the two doors! One of the doors goes to the small back porch and the other goes to the garage. I really think it brightens up the hall a lot and I can’t wait to add little pieces to the walls to finish this space. I'm also a big fan of the grey color we selected for the hallway. It is just a little bit darker than the kitchen walls so it adds a little change to the hallway. And yes… that awesome 80’s linoleum floor will be replaced one day & I am crossing my fingers it will be sooner rather than later. ;)

^^^ cute man peeking around the pretty blue door!

The big move happens this weekend which I'm super excited about and we are only NINE days away from the wedding now. Single digits are very exciting!
