Pregnancy Post // Months three - five.

November 18, 2019

I normally share these updates monthly, but sadly that is not going to happen this time around! BUT, I have been keeping track of the little details and trying my best to take weekly photos at some point during the week. Time is limited now days with our busy life as a family of four, and I know that won't be changing once we are a family of five, so keeping the little details on this space is what's most important now.

9 weeks:
  • Nausea is all day now, even when I wake up in the middle of the night for a trip to the bathroom. Thankfully I haven't gotten sick, I really don't want to throw up.
  • Trying to keep my stomach full with snacks and big meals during the day, even if I don't want toe at.
  • Still using all the peppermint oil!
  • Realized looking at my phone makes me feel sea sick, so I've been putting it down a lot.
  • My chin is COVERED in zits & my hair is also become super curly?!?

10 weeks:
  • Sea bands are helping SO MUCH!!! Wearing them all day and trying to eat small snacks during the day.
  • Not enjoying meat that much unless it's beef, but still loving salads. Especially taco salads with ground beef!!!
  • Asher has self weaned all on his own, except for first thing in the morning. We'll see if he weans that soon, not going to push it.
  • The belly is very evident now, especially by the end of the day!
  • Had my first midwife appointment this week and got to hear the heartbeat, 161 and so beautiful!
  • It's been a hard week and I've had several times when I've been scared to death about having a third baby, but I know that God will provide like he always does! Leaning into Him for patience and strength.

11 weeks:
  • We announced Eliya Baby 3!!!
  • Eating meat much easier now, even some chicken. Still craving burgers and/or salads.... I'm going to be shocked if this little bit is a girl since I craved the same exact things with the boys before. The only difference is the aversion to chicken.
  • Most days this week I've felt awesome all morning and afternoon till 4, then I hit the brick wall and feel awful!
  • Felt the baby move the day before I was 12 weeks!! Couldn't believe it.

12 weeks:
  • Feeling so much better and loving the little flutters I'm feeling in my belly off and on during the day!
  • Been praying most of this pregnancy to feel better by Solomon's Birthday (the day I turn 13 weeks) but I'm so thankful that God has shown His faithfulness and given me the full week ahead! As long as I keep something in my stomach I feel great!
  • Feeling all the hormonal emotions with having a four year old and knowing just how fast it all goes by.

13 weeks:
  • Shocked at how round my belly is by the end of the day after eating throughout the day!
  • Enjoying all the foods now, but sweets still don't make me feel super great. I usually just want to skip them.
  • After a busy day for Solomon's birthday party, I felt my first braxton hicks contractions and was shocked they were showing up so early. Trying my best to remember to drink water on the busy days.

14 weeks:
  • Still feeling good with a lot of energy as long as I pace myself. Trying to stay hydrated with a lot of water, also. Craving it most days so it's easy to keep my yeti around with ice water.
  • Enjoyed a short trip to Charleston with the boys while daddy was working. We loved eating some yummy food and of course some Jeni's Ice Cream!

15 weeks:
  • Nausea hit pretty hard on the ride home from Charleston which was a random surprise.
  • Happy to be home and sleeping in our bed again!
  • Celebrated six years of marriage with a date downtown and walking around and enjoying some apps from some of our favorite spots.
  • Flew to Maine and realized how my lap space is quickly disappearing with Asher on my lap!

16 weeks:
  • Felt so old and tired by 7:30 on the night of the wedding! HAHA, we were in bed before midnight which is a first for a family wedding.
  • Enjoyed so much delicious seafood during the trip but we craving a burger by day 4!
  • Also had some swollen feet for the first time this pregnancy after a lot of walking and sight seeing. Trying to take it easy and rest when I can.

17 weeks:
  • Feeling the baby much stronger now, a few kicks have surprised me!
  • Needing more food and a lot of snacks throughout the day to keep up my energy.
  • Round ligament pain and the aches are starting. The chiropractor is a must!!!
  • Very happy to be home with no trips anytime

18 weeks:

  • Random waves of nausea that got really bad and no food would help. Thankfully the preggy pops helped a little till it passed. This is one of the few things that makes me wonder if we have a baby girl on the way??
  • Exhausted by bedtime and falling asleep with the boys most nights.
  • Got to hear babies heartbeat at the midwife appointment and Solomon helped hold the Doppler, it was a sweet moment!

19 weeks:

  • Starting to run out of breath, especially when we are out and about and Asher wants to be carried.
  • Enjoying naptime with Asher each day and taking a quick snooze while I lay down with him and Solomon has his quiet time each day. It's the best little break in the middle of our busy days.
  • Found out about baby girl and we are all so excited and shocked!

20 weeks:

  • Received some gifts for Olive and it seems UNREAL that we are getting a baby girl. It's truly crazy.
  • Our family got hit by a cold this week which helped us all slow down and rest, which was very nice. Hoping we can all fight the funk quickly.
  • The drainage and snot from the cold is making the pregnancy nausea return and it is not fun at all.

Solomon // four years.

September 18, 2019

My big boy. I really don't know how we made it to four years old. My little mini-me boy is growing up so quickly and I don't even know how to handle it. Sometimes I have to go sit with him and just hold him in my lap, because I think about the days that are way too close, when he won't fit anymore. I'm trying my best to take in all the little things that make Solomon who he is as we get to know more of who he will become. I constantly pray for his sweet heart to stay soft and protected in this big world.

Time flew by, but then again, year three was really hard for us. We had a lot of changes during the last year, and add in the growing emotions/feelings of a three year old, and we definitely had our challenges. The biggest change for Peter and I was figuring out what type of discipline we wanted in our home. As Solomon grew, we realized what we thought would work, wasn't actually working. We also realized that some of the things we were choosing to do, didn't help him understand his feelings and emotions. Instead of a time out, we started to model a form of "time in" and would get on his level and communicate what he was feeling and his expectations calmly. I can drastically see the changes in his behavior in just the past few months, and I've enjoyed seeing how he can articulate what he is feeling much easier now. He now tells us that he isn't happy because he is tired, or hungry, or even because he is mad or sad for a certain reason, then we can work together to fix the problem and he will be his happy self again. I love watching him become more brave with his emotions, and we are still working on using our words instead of our hands when he gets frustrated. I can see all the little lessons we have had in the past few months starting to shape who he is.There are definitely a lot of things we are still working on as a family, but I really love where things are heading.

One of my favorite things about Solomon right now is how he is starting to show his kindness. He has started to go out of his way with me and Peter to say thank you, and I love you, and he has also become such a sweet and protective big brother. One of my favorite moments in the last month was a busy day when we picked up some lunch to eat at home & Asher fell asleep in the car. I took Solomon in to the kitchen table and opened up his food and told him to go ahead and eat and then I'd come down and join him after I put Asher in his crib. It took about 10 minutes to get Asher settled and then I finally came down to eat with him. He had this sweet smile on his face and said "did you see what I did mommy?" As I was going to sit down next time him he told me that he opened my food for me and got my silverware out and was waiting on me so he could pray. My heart seriously almost burst. For ten minutes, that precious boy sat at the table and waited for me to eat. It's things like those little moments that make me want to pinch myself. I really don't know what I did to deserve such a sweet and kind little boy.

He's been talking about making new friends all the time, and loves to be out and about, but he definitely is a homebody at heart. He loves his routine and I love that too! It really is such a joy to have him at home with me everyday. I love how it allows me to see him changing and growing. One of the biggest blessings of our new homeschooling adventure is teaching the big life lessons as a family, not just the educational lessons. Learning how to work together and be together as a family, with a happy heart isn't always easy, but I do believe it is what God has called us to at this time. I'm so thankful that 90% of our time together is full of laughs and sweetness. I'm so proud of who this little man is becoming, and I will continue to pray for God to shape his heart into what He wants him to be, and use Solomon for His Kingdom.

eating // still a happy eater, which we are so thankful for. He will try almost anything and usually likes it. His favorite type of meal is when we share a bunch of different things, especially Thai food. He loves the soups and will eat off of every ones plate. He loves to connect events to food also, which I think it so cute. If we go somewhere and then we go get ice cream he thinks that place will always involve a trip to ice cream.... or if we have a family movie night, he always asks for popcorn, even if that only happened one time. Of course he still loves the normal kid staples like mac n' cheese and french fries and hot dogs and chic-fil-a.

sleeping // thankfully he is still a great sleeper. He doesn't nap at all most days now, but if he does it's still very hard to get him awake, unless I catch him right after he falls asleep. He still likes to wake up in the morning (or sometimes in the middle of the night) and crawl into our bed with us. He's gotten pretty good at it, and sometimes we don't even realize he's there till morning. I still love waking up with him between us!

wearing // 3T (and some 2T shorts still, skinny boy!) but his pants are going to need 4T for Fall I think. We'll see when the weather cools down.

loves // still loves coloring, puzzles, playing pretend with any kind of toy (which I LOVE to listen to), reading books,  swimming, singing songs, constantly playing with legos and building things and he really loves to play a few video games with daddy on the weekend. We have learned it is a great perk for him having a good week and being a good listener. The meltdowns have died down drastically, except for when we are leaving somewhere when he's not ready. That is still a big struggle we are trying to work on.

& here are the answers to some questions!
favorite book // LEGO instruction books (he will seriously read them all day long)
favorite food // Chicken Salad Chick
favorite song // Sleeping Bunnies
favorite toy // all his legos
favorite thing to do // play hide and seek

Pregnancy Post // months one & two.

September 6, 2019

It's so surreal to be tracking these details again and writing one of these posts. I just want to pinch myself sometimes, but then I realize how nauseous I feel most of the time, and I know it's really happening. I've never been so thankful to feel so awful. I'm praying constantly for this little babe, and literally can not wait till late October to find out if another boy will join our family, or if we are all going to be shocked to get a girl. My bets are on boy, just based on how I've been feeling and the things I'm craving, but we'll see! I can't wait!!

Because I have been feeling so rough, I've been slack on photos. And let's be honest... I'm also chasing after two crazy boys, so I forget!! But, I am making more of an effort now, so the coming months will hopefully step up a bit!

4 weeks:
  • found out I was pregnant the day before I was four weeks after a crazy night of dreams, one being me taking a test and seeing a positive line. I had been testing for the last couple of weeks hoping for a positive but gave up on Friday the 5th of July since it seemed like my window was finally gone for a positive test. I was still feeling off during the week ahead but I kept thinking it was in my head. Then, one week later, on Friday the 12th of July I got that light pink line! I was so confused and excited.
  • coffee tastes like an ashtray, which is so sad.
  • near the end of four weeks, some light nausea started.
^ 5 week belly....
shocked at how round this belly is so early,
granted this was at the end of the day after dinner.
plus, these two with me in this photo is perfect!!!
5 weeks:
  • so. tired. surviving on naps during the day and really weird dreams all night long.
  • trying my best to get out of the house so I won't sit around all day.
  • no food aversions yet and only enjoying ice coffee with a lot of vanilla creamer.

6 weeks:
  • sweets are a no go, especially ice cream but snacking on grapes and fruit are still good.
  • starting to crave nachos of any kind.... yum!
  • trying to find energy to prepare for our homeschooling year starting in September and hoping I feel better by then.
^ middle of my 7th week....
woke up with this belly on 8/13, so happy!
7 weeks:
  • nausea is much worse and changes daily so it's very unpredictable. I never know if it is going to be mornings, afternoons or evenings... or even all day long. Every day is different.
  • had our first ultrasound on 8/6 and found out we were 7w3d. Since my positive test was so late, we weren't sure when we conceived and definitely needed an early dating ultrasound.
  • diffusing a lot of peppermint to make it through the day.

^ a couple days before 9 weeks....
Mom took this at the game on 8/15 and had to crop it
for FB since we hadn't announced the news yet.
8 weeks:
  • craving mexican food but still nauseous no matter what I eat. Feel great as I'm eating but then 20-30 minutes later I feel so sick.
  • dealing with a small summer cold and trying to rest/sleep as much as I can.
  • salads are so good right now, but chicken is a definite no, unless it's fried chicken.
  • went to Atlanta for the Jets game and survived a lot of walking and heat, despite the bad nausea and lack of sleep.
  • we missed restaurant week, which NEVER happens, so I'm clearly pregnant and feeling like poop. ha!

Asher // seventeen months.

May 30, 2019

Our little guy has gotten so big in the last month! I feel like I say that every month now, but it’s true. Toddlers really do change and develop so much, so quickly at this age. I guess that’s one reason why I love this stage so much. We have one more month of these updates and then we will have a 1.5 year old! Crazy!!! Those big brown eyes are taking in every single thing all around and I love watching him grow! The last five months have flown by and I have loved it.

Always eating snacks or hungry!!!
  • The constant jibber-jabber is so fun to listen to. He’s been trying to say things more than ever which makes me so excited. It always shocks me when he says something and I actually understand what he wants. Just the other night in the bath he picked up a startfish toy and said star (“tar”), both Peter and I were surprised!
  • He has started to sleep much harder now but the night weaning did NOT go well. It’s crazy how different he and Solomon are. Asher is definitely a momma’s boy, so I think any kind of weaning process will be much harder with him. I decided to just go with the flow since he’s still sleeping great and loves co-sleeping with us in the middle of the night. I'm in no rush!
  • Loves swimming in the pool and splashing in the water. Summer is going to be so much fun this year with a HUGE bathtub to play in all the time. ;)
  • The biggest carnivore baby! Loves any kind of meat and prefers it over anything. Still loves most fruits also and eats 1-2 eggs every morning.
  • Running and walking fast now, but can still get tripped up and fall pretty easy. Learning how to catch himself and not getting too upset.
  • Still obsessed with his brother but also gets very annoyed and irritated with him so easily. We are working on hitting since that’s his go to response when he’s annoyed with anyone, especially Solomon.
  • Loving books and playing with legos, he can sit solo and play for a while now. It's is a huge blessing if I’m busy cleaning or doing something with Solomon. Sometimes if he is being super whiny or complaining about something, I'll tell him to go read a book and he perks up instantly, then goes to the bookshelf and looks at books for a while. It's super cute!
  • Going into childcare and church without a huge meltdown, he still cries and resists it, but he’s fine once I’m out of sight.
  • Absolutely hates to have his diaper changed and get his PJs on before bed, like you would think I’m trying to kill him. It’s the worst part of my day for sure, which is usually why Peter usually does it. Once he’s dressed and ready for bed he’s back to his sweet and happy self. The temper is real!
  • All four molars are out and the first canine tooth is cutting right now on the top left side!
  • Had his first timeout for making a huge mess with a squishy on the living room floor. He thought the timeout was hilarious and he actually liked it, even put himself in timeout again after I got him out. Haha, oh boy....
  • Obsessed with my face and touching any small zit (which doesn't help keep zits away!) or ,y tiny mole on my cheek while nursing, which is incredibly annoying! It drives me nuts. I move his hands and tell him no constantly but he needs the constant touch with my face to fall asleep.
  • Just weighed him and he was 28.6 lbs. He’s also wearing all 2T clothing. Asher and Solomon can definitely wear the same shorts right now, which is hilarious to me.
Sweet, sweet boy!!! I love you so much!

Asher // sixteen months.

May 1, 2019

Our baby boy seems bigger every day now! He is trying to communicate and watching and learning constantly. It's so fun to see more of his personality coming out, even if some of it is a full on temper! He is walking 100% of the time now and trying his best to keep up with his brother. Their relationship has evolved a lot now that Asher is playing and running around more. It's so sweet to see. I'd honestly love it if God gave us five boys, they are so fun! I've always wanted to be a boy mom, and now that dream is coming alive even more with Asher becoming more of a toddler.

full on personality, and flipping 180 all day long! Definitely keeps things interesting.

  • still obsessed with books and will sit and flip through them for 20 minutes sometimes. It's the sweetest thing to watch his face take in all the details. However, he is still not interested in me reading books.
  • did really well while traveling to TX and only lost his mind after several hours of sitting in a car seat. I was honestly proud of him... it was a lot of traveling and he loved most of it. He also did very well going to sleep with my mom while we were away at the wedding festivities, but still refuses to go to sleep for anyone other than me here at home.
  • loves giving kisses and hugs, its so sweet and I ask him for kisses all day now.
  • Mickey Mouse is his favorite thing right now, and he screams anytime we see a picture or toy of Mickey while we are out and about.
  • loves to dance and play music all day long!
  • wearing all 24M or 2T clothes now, which is funny because that's what Solomon work last year.
  • all his molars are in now and we are dreadfully waiting for those canine teeth to come in. I'm hoping to night wean him before that starts in the next week or two.
  • sleeping is so all over the place right now, but when my mom would get him to sleep in TX he wouldn't wake up till almost 2AM, but if I nurse him to sleep he is awake by 11 or 12, so I'm hoping the night weaning will help with that also.
  • he will eat almost anything but he can be picky about textures. He doesn't like hummus or mashed potatoes at all, but he's obsessed with any kind of meat. He's definitely a carnivore!

Asher // fifteen months.

March 31, 2019

Another month goes by and my baby boy is slipping away before my eyes! He is full on walking now which makes things so much fun. He is SOOO close to standing up on his own, but can't quite pull himself up straight, so he has to crawl to the closest thing to pull himself up to walk again. Once he figures that out, he will be 100% walking. I love to see his little hands up in the air as he's trying to balance. It's such a sweet phase, that's for sure. He has definitely grown up a lot in the last month, thanks to that crazy 9th leap. He is more aware of so many things and trying his best to communicate, even if he doesn't have the words yet. I can't believe he's 15 months old... time needs to slow down!

his little right hand, always out for balance, and his cheeks jiggles when he walks. haha, two of the things I don't ever want to forget!

Wanting to go see the chickens!!

  • Slimmed down a lot from all the walking, so now he can wear some of my favorite pants from when Solomon was smaller! It seriously makes me so happy to see him wear his big brothers clothes!!!
  • LOVES to be outside and will stand at the door screaming till we finally go out. As soon as daddy gets home from work he starts pointing to the back yard to go see the chickens with him. It's so cute!
  • Still pretty attached to mommy right now and won't let anyone put him to sleep still, but I'm hoping this will change in the next few weeks, since Gigi will be with him while Peter and I are out for some weddings.
  • SO obsessed with Solomon also, he literally follows him around trying to copy everything he does. It's so sweet to watch. They have also started to play really well together and Solomon even asks for him to play with him sometimes.
  • Favorite foods recently include: oranges, any kind of meat, eggs, blueberries, peanut butter and honey sandwiches & pretty much anything that I'm trying to eat ;)
  • The sleeping at night has gotten much better after some molars have cut through! He even had  a solid 8 hours of sleep a few nights ago and I was shocked. He hasn't done that in MONTHS.
  • Almost all his molars are in, the bottom two came first and then the upper left, still waiting on the upper right to come in.

Solomon // three + a half.

March 14, 2019

I can't believe it's been a full year since I wrote that super emotional post last year, for Solomon's Two + a Half birthday. Part of me knows that was all brought on by my three month postpartum emotional roller coaster ride that I was currently on, but I'm so thankful I took the time to write it. It helped me process a lot of the things I was feeling about having my first baby growing up, and it helped create this half birthday tradition. I'm sure I will feel this way every year, because he's my first baby. The beginning of my motherhood, my sweet boy!

A lot has happened during Solomon's year of being three so far. He has grown so much and I can see the little boy coming out in him more and more. I'm also starting to really see his strengths and weaknesses, and I'm constantly trying to figure out what I can do to make him the best person he can be. Because of that, I'm always trying my best to always point him to Christ.

One of the biggest changes for us during the last year has been our decision to homeschool. When I was growing up I would always dream of being two things, a mommy & a teacher. Even as a little girl I would walk around with a baby doll and then also pretend to have a classroom. So, in a way I have been living out a very real dream come true, and I can't imagine doing it with anyone else. Solomon has been an absolute dream to teach in the last two months. He loves it and I love it, and I'm praying it continues to be a good fit for us. We'll see what God has planned, but I'd love for this to continue for a very long time. The past two months of homeschooling has brought so many little moments that I know we wouldn't have experienced otherwise. Like, walking through the grocery store and looking for food that starts with the letter F, or going to the library and asking me what letter we are working on next so he can find books to read, and then riding in the car and naming all the things he sees that God has made. The devoted time we have spent each day learning together has been so sweet, and it has really made me prayerfully dependent, asking for patience and for the Holy Spirit to lead me and to keep our day centered on Him.

There are so many little things that I love about Solomon right now. His desire to learn, that he definitely gets from his daddy, is so much fun to experience. I see so much of Peter in him, which I love. Unfortunately, I also see the parts of myself that I'm not crazy about... like his short temper and lack of patience with things that he can't control. But, on the flip side, he also finds extreme happiness in the small things like I do, and that is super fun to watch. He loves figuring things out on his own, and tries his best to be self sufficient, from building a lego creation to getting in and out of the car.

Like most kids at this age, he's obsessed with any form of screen time, but we try our best to balance that with a lot of free play, crafts and books. Some of his favorite things to play with is legos, make believe with everything from batman to dinosaurs, he's still obsessed with coloring or any kind of artwork, and he'd spend the night with Gigi every weekend if he was allowed. He still loves to play quietly by himself but I can see his excitement to play with his brother now since Asher is getting older, which I love. Some times I will get busy cleaning or folding laundry, then I'll realize that they are so quiet and I get nervous. I will go peek in, waiting to find a disaster, but 90% of the time, all I find is Solomon in his own little world and Asher trying his best to copy everything he sees. It's such a special thing to watch, and I love seeing Solomon evolve into his role as a big brother.

his face when I told him tomorrow was his half birthday!

He is so tender and kind, but still a full on wild boy. It's such a tricky combination to try and nurture and grow. He loves hard, which means he might demand more of us at times, but his heart is usually in the right place. That is the one thing that I'm praying for constantly, his heart, and my ability to soften it and help mold it into what God desires. I heard a quote this week at my Bible Study, that made me really think about this stage of life.... "We are building for eternity & it's worth the best effort."

At the end of the day, this is my first time ever parenting a three and a half year old. I can read all the books or articles, and I can talk to all the other mom's who have been in my shoes, but then I think one thing; they haven't had my son. God knew that Solomon was best with us. He saw our hearts and our desires, and he saw fit to give us this precious life. That is still amazing to me! It is a true privilege to mother this boy of ours and all I can do is ask for my heavenly Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit to guide me in everything I do. It's such a heavy task, so heavy that I feel I may never do anything right, but I will continue to do my best and love him with my whole heart.

His "mommy, take a silly picture of me" pose & because it wouldn't be a half birthday post without the normal questions! I added a new one this time because he wanted to answer more questions, ha!

favorite book // Jonah and the Whale
favorite food // strawberry and chocolate ice cream
favorite song // ninja song
favorite toy // buzz lightyear and batman
favorite thing to do // clean up (ha, no lie... that is what he said)
favorite memory // eating a cookie at Chicken Salad Chick

Asher // Fourteen Months.

March 4, 2019

Another month of our happy Asher!! There are so many little parts of his personality that are showing more and more now, that seriously make me want to eat him up. He is the sweetest little thing, but still so full of fire. It's a tricky combination, but it's definitely never boring. Seeming to be a true second child, but I wouldn't want him any other way. We are in the phase of toddler-hood when babies change and adapt so quickly. All the little ways that he has changed since last month is so crazy to me. I try my best to not compare Solomon and Asher, but I can't help notice how much more of a baby Asher seems. Solomon was already running around by this age, and talking a lot, too. I know a lot of this is the difference of a first child and second child obviously, since Asher doesn't get nearly as much one on one attention. BUT, I do not hate it one bit... I absolutely love that he feels like my baby still, and not a full on toddler like Solomon did. Their personalities are so different, and Asher is definitely a momma's boy, and I will soak it in!!!

peek-a-boo, still his favorite!

Always begging for food!!

  • Seems to officially decided to be a co-sleeper, which I am not fighting one bit. Some may thing that this a step backwards from his crib sleeping, but I'm loving it!!
  • Unfortunately, this also means that he won't go to sleep for anyone other than me, which makes date nights tricky now. This all started when he entered his 9th leap (Wonder Weeks) so I'm hoping things will adjust back, and he will comply to his bedtime routine with others, once this leap is over. 20 days left. HA!
  • Cutting his first (maybe several, can't really tell for sure) molars, which seems super early but apparently I forgot which order teeth came in for babies?? Either way, it sucks and I hate teething so much.
  • Loves hugs, kisses and cuddling in general; which I absolutely love.
  • So obsessed with his brother and wants to copy everything he does. He wants what he eats, tries to eat it the same way, wants to play with what he is playing with, and do what he does. The level of concentration he has while watching Solomon is adorable!
  • He is loving his midday nap, usually from 1-3 each day, and going to bed between 8-9. It's nice to have a reliable schedule with him, and he definitely thrives with it.
  • Enjoying books and will crawl over to them whenever he is bored with toys, which I think is so sweet!! Also enjoying TV more than his brother ever did (second child problems!) and cries for me to turn on the TV more than I care to admit. HA!
  • Almost walking, I feel like I've been saying this for over a month now, but he's definitely taking his time. He has no desire to walk more than 3-5 steps at a time, since crawling is so much faster.
  • Peek-a-boo is still his favorite thing, and also how I get most of his smiles for pictures. He just can't get enough of peek-a-boo.
  • Not super verbal, but responds more with head nods and pointing. He does love saying da-da, bye bye and barking non stop for any dog (or animal) he sees.
Sweet boy looking so cute in his shirt from Diana Basna Art, such a perfect gift!

Asher // thirteen months.

January 29, 2019

I can't believe that our little baby toddler is 13 months old already. January has been such a LONG and slow month, but now that it's almost over, it seems like it flew by some how. It's so strange how that happens. But, here we are at the end, which means Asher is another month older. I didn't realize it until I looked back at Solomon's thirteen month post, but they are doing so many of the same things. Of course Solomon was sprinting around everywhere by this point, but I kind of love that Asher is taking the whole walking thing a lot slower! He's giving me a little more rest! ;) Here are some of the things that I want to remember about the last month with our little guy!!

  • like Solomon was during this month, he says hello with every toy and barks for every animal he sees.
  • loving books now and will crawl over to the bookshelf and pull them out one by one. Sometimes he will sit for a while before crawling away to something else.
  • starting to think he will FOREVER hate changing his clothes or diaper. Getting him ready for bedtime is one of the most stressful parts of my day because he kicks and screams and cries the entire time.
  • seriously loves to cuddle each morning in bed, especially with Solomon. After he has his morning milk next to me, he will crawl over to Solomon and sleep next to him. If Solomon stays in his bed all night, and he's not in our bed, he just sits up yelling and wants to get out of bed.
  • obsessed with daddy and loves to scream for him constantly. It's the cutest thing!!!
  • blowing kisses like a pro now! Anytime we are getting ready to leave or someone leaves our house, he starts blowing tons of kisses.
  • loves to dance to all kinds of music, especially our nursery rhyme CD. This Old Man is his favorite!
  • trying his best to walk!!!
  • eating everything, especially anything we have! He has serious FOMO when it comes to food. Still loves milk, just not nearly as much as his brother did! We have also night weaned and he's sleeping a little bit better at night.
  • trying his best to copy big brother with everything from using a fork to coloring with crayons and markers, which he has surprisingly mastered pretty well so far!
  • also had his first haircut just a few days ago!!

those cheeks!!!! gah, killing me!

Our little guy is getting so big!!!! I'm so excited to see what will happen in February!
