Because I love him.

October 14, 2014

This wonderful man that I am blessed to call husband, he is a good one. He is my true better half and I love doing life with him. He spoils me and loves me in all the little ways and the big ways that a sweet hubby should and most importantly, he does it because God calls him to do it. Over the past year I have learned a lot about being a wife and he has learned a lot about being a husband. We have definitely NOT perfected this thing called marriage but we have had fun learning what it is all about. We are still learning and I know we will never stop. We stumble but we always pick each other back up. We talk things out. We listen to each other. We work hard.

Our trip to Boston was a perfect anniversary gift to each other but I felt like I wanted to do a little something extra for Peter. We share a deep love for a craft beer and he really loves some Oktoberfest celebrations, so when I heard that Asheville has an awesome festival, I jumped on it! Sunday just happened to be our Two Year Engagement Anniversary, also! Since I love celebrating every kind of anniversary, I thought it only made sense to celebrate in Asheville with a frosty beer in hand, right? Yea, I thought so too!!

Smelling the fresh hops!

^^ Peter in the stein holding competition. The stein's were plastic and they were filled with water,
but surprisingly heavy. He didn't win... but it was fun to watch the final two below.

^^ this guy was set up writing poetry on demand. I was dying for him to write something for us.
After passing by several times I finally stopped by and told him that we just celebrated our One Year
and he asked us if we had a dog or a cat, so I told him we had six chickens.
He smiled and wrote this below. I love it and I can't wait to frame it in our home!

beautiful sunset while we were walking around downtown!

I'm also excited to mark #56 off of my 101 in 1001 list!
Slowly but surely, this list is getting checked off!!

Sights + Seats // Tandem

October 13, 2014

Over the weekend I surprised Peter with a little trip to Asheville, NC and on the way we stopped by Tandem for the first time, so we could start the weekend off with a delicious breakfast!!! This has been on our list for a while but we were saving it for a special occasion. With the beautiful fall weather and a fun weekend trip, we knew it was the right time. I love that some awesome things are starting to spread out in the Greenville area. Travelers Rest is turning into the cutest downtown area and with all the cute shops, swamp rabbit trail, brewery and now an amazing breakfast spot, you really can't go wrong with a visit to downtown TR on a Saturday.

I ate the fiesta crepe which was filled with chicken, cheese and black beans, topped with salsa and sour cream. My excited smile above was due to the lack of onions in the salsa!! I hate raw onions.
The salsa was made of red and yellow peppers, it was all delicious!

Peter had the dark chocolate, banana nut waffle and it was super sweet but so good. I normally don't lean toward sweets for breakfast but I have to say, the lingering almond flavor in the waffle batter was perfection. The light and fluffy whipped cream was great also.

More about the surprise weekend in Asheville tomorrow!

Sipping in Boston.

While I was researching fun things to do in the city of Boston before our trip I came accross a tasting and tour of a distillery. We normally go on brewery tours so we had never been to a distillery tour together, but it definitely seemed like a lot of fun. GrandTen blew us away with the quality of drinks and the warm & friendly atmosphere. Everything tasted AMAZING and it was really interesting to learn about the passion that this small company has. I can see their future booming and we were really glad to spend a few hours getting to know the guys that started this amazing distillery.

Not to mention that we couldn't find a cab back to our hotel and I really didn't want to walk the mile back since we walked a mile there, and I was wearing VERY high heels. Next thing we know the owner of GrandTen offered to give us a ride in the most awesome classic, old truck ever. They were such nice guys. If you ever make it to Boston, and you are free on a Friday night, I highly suggest trying out the Friday Night Flights like we did. You'll love it!! And they give you potato chips!

Some Flannel, Boots and a Chick.

October 9, 2014

Greenville was blessed with true fall weather over the weekend!! It even felt like it was almost winter on Saturday night since it was in the 40’s. I didn’t mind one bit, I was so excited to dig out my sweaters, boots and thick wool socks! Or steal my husband’s socks. On Sunday we enjoyed an early morning with some adorable three year olds and then went to the late church service. We had communion like we always do on the first Sunday of every month but it felt more refreshing than normal. More sacred. October is here and it feels like a fresh start in many ways. Stepping into our second year of marriage, finally finding a comfortable spot to serve in our church and loving on sweet kids, enjoying this beautiful weather that this new month brings… it is all good stuff and I’m so thankful for it! I’m also thankful for cozy flannel shirts and the cute chickens that make our backyard a little more fun. Sunday was a great day. Except for the Jets losing, but we won’t talk about that.

^^ that's Tina Turner. She's our tallest chick so she of course wins that name.

Boston Trip // Pt.2

October 8, 2014

Just a warning, this post is also going to have a lot of photos. I honestly can't choose which ones to leave out so I'm going to share way too many. I can't help it. Boston is just way too beautiful, and that is not my fault. As I mentioned on my Leather Jacket post, the weather was amazing. Amazing in a way that we were not expecting. The weather forecast for the time we were going to be visiting said 60's & 70's but almost every day was in the 80's. I don't mean to complain about the warm weather but I'm really not a warm weather kind of gal. The 60's and 70's.... now that is my thing. And boots are my thing. Boots with jeans. And you know what else doesn't like weather in the 80's? Boots and jeans, that's what. So it was a constant battle almost every day, but you can't really complain when you are staring at beautiful Boston every day and walking beside the man of your dreams exploring a new city. So, it was hot, but it was so, so, absolutely wonderful, wet jeans and all!! ;) And now are all the photos I warned you about..... hope you enjoy!

^^ One of the highlights from the trip was going to the Red Sox and Yankees game!
We got to see Jeter in person before he said his goodbyes.
It was also really awesome to watch the Red Sox fans cheer for him with all of us Yankee fans!

^^ dinner at Eastern Standard while we waited for the crowd to die down after the game.

Celebrating our One Year at Deuxave
You can't tell by this photo but we were so stuffed, the food was amazing!!

Then we made our way to Cambridge to visit the Harvard area the next day.
It was the first week of classes, so it was really busy but a lot of fun to walk around!
^^ I took a switch from my normal spicy margarita to try The Night Nurse at the Gallows
and I really liked it! This place was a really fun bar and we loved the brisket tacos!

One more fun post left from our weekend in Boston,
Sipping on Cloud Nine post will be happening on Friday!
