a day in our life // 010

April 10, 2019

I honestly forgot that I had written down to do a "day in our life" post, until we finally sat down to do our morning bible time yesterday morning, and I saw it written down on my planner for the day. Not much was missed so, I decided to back track a little and get caught up so I could track our day. I went to get my big camera so I could have some quality photos and use my self timer to truly capture what we do. I really do love these posts so much, especially on lazy Tuesdays at home when we don't have any plans. It makes recording all the little moments a lot easier!!

04.09.19 // tuesday

7:40 - Peter leaves for the day and Solomon has a little TV time while I nurse Asher in bed and try and wake up. He watches a show on Netflix and I head downstairs and let him watch one more show while I drink my coffee and change Asher's diaper.

8:00 - Solomon had an accident in his bed last night (for the first time in a very long time), so I move over the wet clothes from last night to the dryer, and wash his sheets. I then start making some eggs for breakfast for the boys.

8:10 - Asher sits at the table and eats his eggs while Solomon tries to use the potty. The first of many unsuccessful trips for the day. I tell him he can try again when he feels ready.

turning on the music, like most mornings for baby brother!

8:30 - We head into the playroom to clean up the toys from the day before and try and get started on our morning work. On days when we don't have to rush out of the house, we start the day with practicing Solomon's first and last name in his notebook, then do a morning drawing. After that we do a bible study and say our prayers for the day.

8:45 - The day is definitely off to a slow start and the boys play while I straighten up the living room and the kitchen. I also wash the eggs from the past few days so they will be ready to cook when we need them.

9:30 - Somehow almost an hour goes by and we finally sit down and start our morning work for the day, with some snacks of course. Apple sauce with some ningxia juice for Solomon and a squishy for Asher and ice water for me!

Before we do our bible story, Solomon tries to potty again... no luck, so we relax and read some books and play for a bit.

10:40 - Solomon finished his picture drawing for the day and I prep our bible story. Asher is dying for some milk so we cuddle on the couch and read the story together.

Solomon does a coloring photo, and we talk about the story from last night and today, while Asher plays with some cars on the floor. Last night was about the little girl who died and Jesus brought her back to life, and today was about how to pray. We are using the Crew and Co Easter Cards and they are so sweet!

11:05 - I've been trying my best to use some of our bible story time to read on my own and also write in my prayer journal. Solomon wanted to sit in my lap and color the rest of his photo since he needed to use the potty but couldn't go quite yet. I enjoy the cuddles and write out my prayers, then we pray together before we go and play.

probably my new favorite photo of the two of them, so sweet!!!

11:40 - We head upstairs to play while I put away some laundry from the night before. I also get Asher dressed in some comfy clothes before lunch.

12:00 - we head back downstairs and make a smoothie (my lunch) and get some other things out for the boys. Solomon loves helping me with the smoothie every day and Asher gets so excited when we turn it on, he thinks it is so funny!

I cut up an apple and some string cheese for the boys and Asher also has some avocado.

I love those little toes peeking out from under his tray!

Solomon's hands, always covered in marker and paint! My little artist...

12:30 - I head upstairs to get Asher down for his nap while Solomon watches some Disney Jr.
I lay Asher down at 12:50 and let Solomon finish his show before his quiet time.

1:10 - Solomon has quiet time while I take a quick shower and get dressed for the day. I can tell he is sleepy so I tell him to go play downstairs while I finish my makeup before we do his school work.

1:30 - I come downstairs and find this.....

He sure is cute,  but Lord knows he can't take a nap, or he won't be able to go to sleep till 11PM! So I have to wake him up and bribe him with a puzzle to make him want to play. He can hardly work on the puzzle since he needs to use the potty so badly, and he finally let himself go! Hallelujah!!!

2:05 - he is working on finishing the puzzle and then Asher wakes up! I always try and do our school time when Asher is asleep so I can focus on Solomon and he can have some one on one time, so things are a lot trickier if Asher is awake. But,we get the work out for the day and try our best to stay focused.

2:20 - I let Asher play with some dot markers on the floor with some paper while we work on the letter I for the day.

3:00 - we clean up the school work supplies and head into the living room so I can fold some laundry while the boys play.

3:30 - I get everything folded and work on my bible study while Solomon and Asher play together.
It is so crazy how often I have typed that during my day so far, and I'm so thankful for it.
Yes, there are moments when I have to remind Solomon to be a kind big brother, or I have to console Asher when he gets frustrated that he's not as big as Solomon, or I need to get down on their level to talk to them, but they really do love to be together and play. Such a blessing!

5:00 - After we get our clothes on, we play music with straws as a flute and Solomon is excited to run upstairs to get his guitar, and Asher starts dancing. Peter gets home from work much earlier than normal and the boys are so excited to see him and put on a show for him. We then head out to dinner and to get some shopping done at the mall.

It was a slow and easy day at home. A sweet day, one of my favorite kind of days. The house isn't spotless, the laundry is still on the couch as I type this, but my babies were loved and I made time for some sweet moments with my maker. It's crazy how much better my day will flow when I have priorities in the right place, and for that I am thankful. That is something I'm trying my best to work on daily in our home. To be obedient to the Lord and available for my family!

a day in our life // 009

January 17, 2019

I almost decided not to share this "Day In Our Life" post because it wasn't as great as most of mine. I didn't have time to pull out the big camera and take a thousand photos like I normally do. Most of the time, these posts consist of 40+ photos, this one is only thirteen. It was a busy day, full of fun things to do and very little time to think about capturing it all. But, then I realized how most of our days are busy and full now. We have two boys to keep us on our toes, literally chasing them and playing with them and watching them grow up before our eyes. So, I decided to share the little bits of yesterday, because like I always say, I want to remember the details!!

1.16.19 // wednesday

8:00 - I wake up from hearing Asher cry out form his crib. Peter goes to get him and brings him to our bed, which already has a sleeping Solomon, between us. He made his way to our bed around 5AM like most mornings. I nurse Asher while Solomon still sleeps, then Asher is ready to wake up his brother. Sweet giggles and hugs start our day!

Since it is Wednesday, that means we have to rush around and get ready for M2M! Of course Asher sleeps in a little later than normal (usually he wakes up around 7:30) so we all have to hurry. Thankfully, Peter is still home also and helps get the boys in the car after they are dressed and ready, then I give him a ride to work on the way!

8:40 - On our way to M2M and I'm one of those crazy ladies who does her makeup at the red lights. Whatever works, right?!?

8:55 - We make it to the church just in time and I drop the boys off at their classes so I can go to my bible study.

11:15 - The bible study is over and I pick up the boys, have a quick potty break and then we head outside to throw rocks and run around with friends for a little bit. One of Solomon's favorite parts of his day after M2M.

11:30 - We drive home for lunch and Peter is there also. He always walks home from work since his office is a four minute walk. I love that he can come home almost every day.

11:50 - Asher falls asleep in the car so I take him upstairs to rock and nurse him a bit before laying him down. Peter makes Solomon and PB & Honey sandwich and eats lunch with him.

12:10 - Since Peter is home, I need to run to the post office to mail some Color Street nail sets to customers. It's so much easier to run in and do that without the boys!

12:20 - Peter walks back to work and Solomon gets ready to sit down and start his homeschooling time. We start with writing his name and working on A, B and C.

12:40 - We normally start our day with a bible story and his drawing journal, but today was a little different because of M2M. I was planning on skipping school work on Wednesday and Friday, but Solomon has been asking to do it anyways. Since our Wednesday is usually very busy, I just let him take the lead on those days.

1:20 - We finish up his art work and workbook pages and we finish by reading Brown Bear Brown Bear, since the colors for today's lesson was brown and blue. I find that most of the homeschooking time takes about an hour a day, give or take. I feel like that is the perfect amount of time to keep his attention and for him to still have fun learning. Since this is all new to us, I'm letting him take the lead with time management for now.

1:30 - Solomon needs to use the bathroom (hallelujah, things are getting much easier with that situation!!) and I start folding some laundry and switch the wet clothes over to the dryer.

1:45 - Solomon gets a treat and plays with some toys in the playroom while we wait for Asher to wake up.

2:00 - I end up waking him up since we have to go to Kangaroo Jax to meet all the cousins to play. I change his diaper and we get in the car to go.

2:30 - We get to Kangaroo Jax and the kids have a great time getting some energy out.

4:20 - We leave Kangaroo Jax and go to Trader Joe's to pick up some groceries we need.

5:00 - Once we are home I start getting dinner ready while the boys play.

5:45 - Peter gets home and the boys are both losing their mind since they are hungry. I turn on an episode of Super Why on Netflix so they can relax on the couch with Peter will I finish up dinner.

6:08 - We sit down to eat and Solomon very happily prays for the food so he can dig in! We have fish and rice with broccoli and he devours his plate. Sweet boy says thank you and tells me how good his food is several times! Asher eats a ton of broccoli and half a filet of fish also. I love it when we have a fast and easy dinner at home that everyone loves.

The days are so busy, but they are full of learning, laughing and a lot of grace for all of us.
These are the days that I will always want to remember!!

A Day in Our Life // 008

September 12, 2018

These posts are definitely a lot of work. Thinking about my day and tracking it. Taking photos and remembering to keep all the little details listed. It's funny how many details I shared on the first Day in our Life post, but that really isn't possible now. (really though, it's hilarious to read that entire post now, but also makes me want to cry because SOLOMON WAS SO TINY!!!!) But now, I have two little monkeys to chase, two sweet boys to love. I really wanted to do this so I could remember what life was like with an almost three year old & an almost nine month old. These are the days, right?

5.22.18 // tuesday
The normal morning now consists of Asher waking up around 7:30 and Solomon waking up around 8. I normally wake up with both boys in the bed with me since Solomon sneaks in the room after the sun comes up.

This morning was a little different, of course they always are when I plan on doing one of these posts. Asher is in his crib 80% of the night, but he always ends up in our bed for some of the night, because I'm too exhausted to try and sit up and nurse him in his room.

7:15 - Asher wakes me up by falling off the bed! A first for him, and hopefully a last. Solomon definitely did this a few times once he started to crawl and move around in the bed. Thankfully Asher isn't in our bed as much as Solomon was, so I'm sure it won't happen again. Our bed is also a lot lower to the ground now and he landed on some pillows. He had some cuddles with mommy and some extra kisses, thankfully he was ok!

7:50 - Peter brings me my hot cup of coffee while I watch the Today Show and he heads off to work for the day.

8:30 - Solomon makes his way downstairs after sleeping in our bed for about 30 minutes. Even if we aren't in the bed, he still stays to sleep a little bit longer. Funny kid!
Asher is also very fussy since he has a little cold, so he wanted to nurse instead of eating in the morning.

8:35 I have some Color Street work to do before making some breakfast for the boys.

9:00 - since the boys don't seem to be hungry quite yet, I clean out the dishwasher and reload it before making their oatmeal.

9:15 - I feed Asher his oatmeal, and Solomon watches an episode of Puppy Dog Pals while he eats his.

9:50 - I make my shake and head upstairs to get ready for the day, and also get the clothes for both of the boys.

10:00 - We get dressed and ready to go to Costo.

10:30 - finally leave for Costco.

11:10 - finished shopping and heading home with his smiley face receipt, Solomon's favorite part of Costco.

11:30 - Solomon is BEYOND "hangry" so I make him his lunch for him to eat while I take Asher upstairs for his nap.

11:45 - I lay Asher down in his crib for his nap & Peter gets home for lunch.
He and Solomon go outside to feed the chicks and collect the eggs for the day.

11:55 - I make my lunch, two eggs on toast with some feta and red pepper flakes!

12:10 - Solomon comes in with a fig from the tree to eat quickly before his nap.
Peter takes him upstairs for his nap while I'm eating lunch.

12:20 - I watch an episode of Friends while I get some more Color Street work finished.

12:40 - right before Peter heads back to work Asher wakes up so he goes to grab him for me and I nurse him and cuddle on the couch till he's ready to wake up. This hardly ever happens with him, so I know he doesn't feel well.

1:00 - I try my best to play with him and keep him happy with several nursing breaks to make him feel better.

2:10 - I go to wake up Solomon from his nap and find him sleeping on the pillows on his bedroom floor. Crazy boy, we go to get his Annie's bunnies for his post nap snack and he picks a tv show to watch. He prefers to wake up slowly like his momma.

2:45 - we head to the playroom to hang out and play, I also cut some fruit for a snack for all of us.

the way he is holding on to my neck.... he's so sweet!

3:35 - go out for a QUICK walk because it is so dang hot.

4:00 - take Asher upstairs for his nap while Solomon plays in his room. After I lay Asher down I hear Solomon running to hide, he loves for me to try and "find him" once I put his baby brother in his crib! We spend the rest of the day playing together while I clean and put away laundry, then we head downstairs with a puzzle while we wait for daddy.

5:50 - Peter comes home and we get ready to go to my mom's house for dinner. I go and get Asher up from his nap so we can go.

The day is full of little things that we do every single day, and then there are always surprises, so we won't get bored. There are meltdowns, crying, playing, laughing, and so many memories I never want to forget. I know the days seem long, but the years have flown by. I can't believe we will have a three year old in just a few days. The sweet boy who made me a mom, so big, and so loved. We sure are blessed with both of our boys!!
