A bride & her man making crepes!

June 13, 2012

The shower for Jocie was so beautiful and a ton of fun!
I'm so glad that I got to help plan a fun shower for my best friend
with my other best friend and my mom... yes, it was awesome!

We decorated the house with lovely flowers (thanks to a dear friend) and old silver tea pots.
Sipped on delightful mimosas and stuffed ourselves with delicious brunch.
The tasty crepes were made by Jocie's future hubby and after trying his masterpiece I decided I would enjoy breakfast at the Conrad house at least once a month when they are finally husband and wife.

I love Jocie like a sister.... after all, I never had a sister until I met her.
Our relationship has had a few dips and turns but I never doubted the connection that we have.
She brings out the best in me. I like to think I bring out the best in her....
She sees the best parts of me and makes sure to point them out so maybe I will notice them as well.
We can be honest with each other and not worry about hurting feelings because deep down we know that we want the best for each other. She can tell me when I'm acting stupid.
I can tell her when she is acting like a snot.
We are sisters... and I'm so excited to call Adam my brother because he is a wonderful man!
Love you both to the moon and back!! I can't wait for your BIG day!

I'm so thankful for both of these crazy women...
makes my heart happy!

ps. I stole some of these pictures from Jocie.
Thanks, friend. :)

Better late than never....?

Clearly I'm late on the blog about Katie’s shower... sorry about that, I'm a bum. The shower was so much fun!!! We all had a great time and she got a ton of gifts for her and Cody’s new home! I’m so excited for her and I can’t wait to see all the changes in her future.

Thanks to Pinterest we had so much fun decorating for the shower… here are some of my favorite parts!

Pretty Fall Decorations

Pinterest idea #1
Fake Pumpkins I spray painted white and stuffed in lace stockings!
Also a black glittery pumpkin I got for $2 at Hobby Lobby!!

By the front door on the porch!

Pinterest idea #2
Pumpkins covered with mums... love the special P for Katie's future last name.
Katie's sweet neighbor helped with this!

Pretty flowers for my bedroom!

Amazingly delicious cake pops!!
Orange were Vanilla... White were Pumpkin Spice Cake
{sadly, we did not make these but if you want the name of who did let me know,
she does a GREAT job!}

Flatware wrapped with napkins and secured with raffia.

I’m so glad the shower was a great turn out! There were almost 30 women in the house to support Katie and I absolutely love that! Definitely makes me happy and thankful for my wonderful friend!!

Pretty Lady! :) Love her so much!!

YAY for elephants... Katie's favorite!
Can’t wait for March to get here so we can enjoy her BIG day!!!!

DIY {Headboard Awesomeness-Part Deux}

October 25, 2011

Since I had the late night of fun with friends on Friday I had a wonderful lazy morning on Saturday. I may or may not have slept in till 2. Don’t worry, I wasn’t completely worthless!!!

That night I had some more DIY fun! This time Mom and I worked on HER headboard and we built it from scratch! Yes, it was nerve wracking (mainly because the fabric we were using was an expensive silk that Mom could NOT buy more of because she bought all they had) but it was a success and we had a lot of fun in the process.
Here are all the fun details:

First start with the wood and foam. Ours was 1 inch thick.
{
Neat Fact: The Army Navy Store in downtown Greenville will cut any piece of foam for you, even if you have a funky shape as long as you have a template of the design.}

After spraying the wood with the adhesive press firmly on the foam to secure it to the wood.

Then take the batting; tighten and staple to the foam covering completely.

Lay out the fabric of choice and start tightening and stapling the fabric like above but also hammering the staples in completely all the way around.

Folding the corner down and stapling tightly so the corners won't pucker.
{Katie Ayer... this picture is for you since you asked about the corners}

Once complete you will hang the headboard on the wall with a heavy duty hanging kit which are very easy to find on the internet.
Then, voila! You have a custom made headboard to complete your room.

The main thing I like about a custom headboard is the availability to change it at any time, it’s such an easy way to make your room extra special and show off your personality.

Happy Tuesday, I’m hoping the rest of this busy week FLIES by!

DIY {Headboard Awesomeness}

October 22, 2011

So this is my first official DIY post! :) Kinda excited about it.... not gonna lie.
My bed used to look like this....
This was my room a few weeks ago...
Old head board, no blanket on the bed and no tie backs for the curtains yet.

So, this is what we (My mom, Jocie, and I) did....
First of all we unscrewed the headboard and popped the padded part out.

Lie the padded board on the floor and place the fabric in the desired area.

Tighten the fabric on the back side by pulling and staple in place.
After all the fabric is stapled in place use scissors to cut the excess fabric.
Possibly for pillows.... :)

And here is my lovely assistant pressing on the new headboard while it's screwed in place.

Close up of the corner of the board once it was complete.

And this is the view from my doorway NOW!

Now I need to hang some things on the wall which I will also have a special DIY Project for! Can’t wait to have everything completed… This month is FLYING by and I have to have everything complete by November 4th, that's the big day for the Shower for my lovely friend, Katie Ayer!
Hope you all had a beautiful week and I REALLY hope you enjoyed the crisp, cold air! I sure did since this is my favorite time of year!!! I thought I’d leave you with a bible verse from one of my devotionals this week… I really love it and I hope you do too! Happy Weekend!!
“Since we are receiving a Kingdom that is unshakable, let us be thankful and please God by worshiping Him with holy fear and awe. For our God is a devouring fire.” {Hebrews 12:28-29} (NLT)

yuck....

So here I am... sitting on the couch with my sweet pup curled up beside me stuck at home with a stomach bug.

See!  Not lying.

I heard there's a bug going around and I'm still not sure if it was something I ate yesterday or if it really is a bug.
Either way it's annoying.

So, what does a chick do when she's stuck at home?  Feed her new obsession of Pinterest?  YES, I think so!  So here are some of the wonderful things I have found..... enjoy!

My husband... thought you all should know.

Planning my 25th Birthday Party with Madison
and this makes me very excited!

Beautiful DIY what I will be working on soon!

Makes me want Fall Weather RIGHT now!!!!

Can't wait to do this, I think it's so fun!!!

Coolest idea for a pumpkin EVER!!!!
Cute tiny pumpkin stuffed in Lace Stockings!

Going to perfect this handwriting for adorable invitations!

Yup.... agree!

I hope all of you have a fabulous Monday, hopefully better than mine.  As for me... I'm going to go relax on the couch and watch some TV so I can feel all better tomorrow!
