roadtrips.

June 17, 2015

Over the weekend, my mom and I took a little road trip for some shopping! Road trips with my mom are one of my favorite things to do. It made me think about all the many things that you need for a succesful road trip and I thought I'd share them with you for this month's Circle Link-up!

Roadtrip

snacks // these three are a must for me, something sweet, salty and sour!
water // staying hydrated while driving is a big deal, even if that means several bathroom breaks.
music // a must for a roadtrip right now is definitely Taylor!! (as long as Peter's not in the car!)
sunglasses // no need to squint from that bright sunshine with some cute shades on your face.
itinerary // this is one thing that I hate to leave home without when I'm taking a trip. I always have a set plan no matter how long or short the trip so we don't have to guess on what to do.

Some of the highlights from our little trip to Charlotte, NC are below! It was a great trip full of yummy food, laughing till we were both crying and all the wonderful things that a mom/daughter trip is made of! We started the morning off with The Flying Biscuit Cafe which is one of our favorite breakfast spots!

After the shopping trips to Southpark Mall and IKEA we finished on a high note at this really neat pizza shop. My mom requested pizza but we both wanted to make sure it was a spot we've never been to before and we were so happy to find Fuel Pizza! It was so yummy and the perfect thing to fill our tummy's before drive home with our full car from IKEA!!

What is a MUST for you in the summertime? Something sweet to sip on at a picnic? A favorite book to read while sitting by the pool? Or maybe some flip-flops to throw into your beach bag? Create a moodboard or collage and tell us what your musts are for this upcoming sunny season!

Savannah Weekend // pt.2

September 19, 2014

Here we go with the last blog post about Savannah, or at least for now.... I'm hoping to sneak away to Savannah again with my handsome man sometime soon. Anyways, back to this trip!!

The nights in Savannah were beautiful and the food was even better. On Friday night we did some sightseeing and stumbled upon a corner restaurant for a drink but after seeing the menu we knew we had to have dinner. I had the BEST Shrimp and Grits I've ever had in my life and after a cup of coffee we enjoyed a show at the Old Savannah Theater. It really was such a fun night!

Saturday night was an entire different world in downtown Savannah! It was loud and busy, and after searching for a VERY long time, we finally found a parking spot. It was conveniently across the street from an amazing pizza spot and we were craving pizza. NY style, as big as your face, and cheeeeaaap. Perfection! Add a beer and some live music down the street and we had another fun night!

^^ this pesto...... Oh. My.
the waitress told us that their homemade pesto was incredible, so we clearly asked for a sample.
& I might have had some dreams about it since we've been home.

^^ this sweet little horse named, Guinness, turned and posed for me!

Sunday was the perfect shady day for last minute sightseeing and some souvenir shopping.
We walked down the beautiful streets lined with the gorgeous live oak trees before our ride home.

Such a wonderful trip and I loved every second of making memories with my Mom.
We are thinking that next year's trip will be in Charlotte....?
Any fun places you all would like to recommend?? We are all ears!

Sights + Seats // Tequila's Town

September 17, 2014

I tried my best to plan several surprises for my Mom as a birthday gift during our weekend in Savannah but I’m not that great at surprises because I get too excited and usually spill the beans so I tried my best to hold them in during the weekend. One of the surprises over the weekend was dinner plans at a highly rated Mexican restaurant since we both LOVE anything that includes salsa and margaritas! While we were searching for lunch on Friday (the day that I had planned the surprise dinner) we turned the corner and what was staring us straight in the face? Yup, you guessed it, Tequila's Town. And what did Mom say pretty soon after we spotted the fun Mexican restaurant? Ding, ding, ding.... right again, we should go eat at the Mexican restaurant we saw earlier! Of course I caved and told her that was the spot for her surprise dinner which instantly caused my mom to burst with laughter. We both decided that we couldn’t wait till dinner because we were starving and we could eat chips and salsa for breakfast, lunch & dinner any day. So, we went. And it was amazing!

still trying to perfect the art of selfies with my big camera...

Savannah Weekend // pt.1

September 16, 2014

So now is the time for me to bombard you with photos from the best Mom/Daughter weekend in Savannah!! It was so much fun to spend time with my mom in this fun city. It has a lot of the same qualities that Charleston, SC has but also has its own personal kind of charm. The layout was a little tricky but all the winding streets of history and picture perfect southern charm were so beautiful. Here are a few of our favorite parts of the trip....

^^ rooftop at The Bohemian Hotel

^^ Rooftop at the Cotton Sail Hotel

^^ garden at the Juliett Gordon Low's birthplace
& the home below

& yes, there are more. Part two will happen later this week!

Mom's Weekend Littles.

September 15, 2014

The weekend in Savannah was perfection!! This was the first trip with my mom since I've been married and it was so wonderful to have a little weekend of girl time. I'm so thankful that I can call that sweet woman one of my best friends! Here are a few of the little things that made our weekend so wonderful.....

enjoying the art of sharing jewelry all weekend // all the laughs while watching the dancing to live music on Barnard Street // learning the awesome news that you can walk around in Savannah with a drink in your hand // finding the best sushi we've ever had in Hilton Head // and then finding the best pizza later that night in Savannah // trying to surprise mom with dinner only for her to pick the same place for lunch, at least I know what she likes, right?

It was a wonderful weekend full of delicious food, new memories
and a lot of laughs! More fun from our weekend coming for ya tomorrow!!

Nashville weekend with Mom!

May 19, 2011

WOW!  I was not lying when I said that May was going to be busy!!!  I haven’t had time to sit down and write an update on the Nashville Weekend… non stop since I’ve been home.

First of all the trip was perfect!!!  Even the nasty, cold, misty, no good weather could get us down.  We had a blast!!  ……Even if we did have to go buy a sweater for the last 2 days! ;)

On Thursday morning we started the trip with some Outlet Shopping!  It was a great day of awesome deals.  We finally made it to our hotel around 10 on Thursday night and crashed… shopping always makes you so tired.

On Friday morning we started the day with some Starbucks Breakfast thanks to a gift card my mom had for $50!!!  (Yea… we gladly had a couple trips to Starbucks during the trip!)  After a quick trip to Target for Mom to find a bright pink nail polish we went to have a wonderful Pedicure.  Since I’ve become a nail polish fanatic and change my fingernails at least once a week I thought a French Pedi would be best!  After some more shopping we went to tour the stars homes! It was SO awesome!!!  Some of the houses were INSANE… some were simple and average.  My favorite was Taylor Swifts pent house suite!  That top area with the lights and table, yup... that's hers!

Later that night we went to the sweet and beautiful, Lindsay Willis’s house for a Grill Out In… thanks to the rain!  It was still a ton of fun and we loved spending time with Lindsay, her hubby and her sweet friends!

On Saturday Mom and I were both dragging thanks to the late night before… we started the day with some coffee and then went to try my new favorite fast & healthy food restaurant, Freshii.  It was so awesome… you pick whatever you want to eat from a menu full of all kinds of options and you make your own wrap, burrito, soup, or salad!  It was awesome, and everything is so fresh and organic.  GREAT place!  After some lunch we went straight to the mall (because you can’t get enough shopping on vacation) in Cool Springs, TN.  It was a great mall… tons of stores and I also found some great deals.  A few hours and pretzel sticks later we were hungry for dinner.  With Pizza in mind we tried Pie in the Sky and sadly we weren’t that impressed… especially for $30 each BUT, oh well… nothing to complain about!  Since we were both exhausted a movie was the perfect solution.  Not wanting to spend the night sitting in the hotel room but definitely too tired to sight see we decided to see Something Borrowed.  BEST IDEA EVER!!!!  It was even better than I thought it would be!  I’ve been reading the book and only had a couple chapters to go so I thought a little surprise ending for the movie would be absolutely fine.  We had a great time and enjoyed relaxing a bit after a busy day.

On Sunday we had such a FUN day!  We started with some Brunch at Jackson’s Bar and Bistro.  The food was so good and the Bloody Mary was even better!  After some window shopping all the cute closed stores and exploring Downtown Nashville it was time for our afternoon tea!  Yes… that’s right; we had a wonderful mini lunch at the Belmont Mansion while sipping on some tea. :) Here are some highlights from the afternoon!

After the tour of the house (where pictures weren’t allowed… sad) we had some fun in Downtown Nashville!  All the cute little knickknack stores and honky-tonk bars were fun to see.  I made the wise decision to wear wooden wedges so I was definitely ready to sit down and have a glass of wine for dinner around 6!  We went to the most BEAUTIFUL place for dinner!  Prime 108 at Union Station… I definitely had to take a few pictures of this place.

The food was delicious and I had my new favorite cocktail!
Definitely planning on making a couple of these at the beach for all the ladies!

Pear Vodka, 1 fresh squeezed lemon,
& Pomegranate Seed Puree

We were such old ladies on Sunday night because we were both tucked in bed at 9!  HA!!  After a busy day and weekend that’s all I wanted to do!  I guess my body is used to winding down on a Sunday night to prepare for a new week of work…?

On Monday morning we had another Starbucks stop after packing everything up in the car and then we spent the day in downtown Franklin.  ADORABLE town… everyone knows each other and it reminded me of a smaller Greenville.  Great shops, awesome food and beautiful scenery!  We were planning on heading home around 2 but finally made it back on the highway around 2:45.

It was such a great trip but after a fun filled Mom/Daughter weekend all a girl wants is a tight squeeze from her main man!  …and that’s exactly what I got at 9:15 when I got home!!

As for this week and the crazyness that has filled it I haven’t had a chance to do anything… I even skipped the “Wednesday Wishes” for the first time.  Oh well, I will make up for it next week!! ;)  Happy ALMOST Friday!
